Analysis of Ribbed Plates

Journal of the Structural Division, 1969
Exact deformation solutions are found for rationally based discrete-continuous models of rectangular ribbed plates having simple end supports and flexible side supports. The formulas are valid for general loadings and are improvements over those based on orthotropic plate theory in that the inconsistencies inherent in the use of an equivalent continuum

Acoustic imaging of ribbed plates

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1990
In recent years, a number of measurement techniques have been developed for structural intensity in various systems such as beams and plates. These techniques are based on motion measurements by either contact sensors (e.g., accelerometers) or noncontact methods (e.g., near-field acoustic holography).

Elastic rigidities of ribbed plates

Building Science, 1972
Abstract A new analysis is presented for plates reinforced with an orthogonal system of eccentric ribs of rectangular section, which enables the accurate determination of elastic rigidities in flexure and torsion. The new expression for torsional rigidity resulting from this analysis is found to correlate well with experimental values obtained from ...

Vibrations of ribbed plates on elastic bases

International Applied Mechanics, 1999
The paper deals with the rectilinear plate \((\,0\leq x\leq L_1\), \(\,-L_2\leq y\leq L_2)\), which is resting on the elastic Vinkler base with rigidity \(c_1\). The plate is reinforced by the regular force set of \(\,N=2k+1\,\) ribs. It is assumed that the ribs are located symmetrically to the middle surface and the ends of the plate are rigidly fixed.

Critical frequencies of ribbed plates

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989
The vibrational and radiative properties of panels are often cast in terms of the relationship between the two sets of properties. The relationship is expressed in terms of the radiation efficiencies of these panels. Often interest lies in the dependence of the radiation efficiency on frequency; the radiation efficiency is, therefore, usually displayed

ANATOMICALLY CONTOURED PLATES FOR FIXATION OF RIB FRACTURES

Chest, 2009
: Intraoperative contouring of long bridging plates for stabilization of flail chest injuries is difficult and time consuming. This study implemented for the first time biometric parameters to derive anatomically contoured rib plates. These plates were tested on a range of cadaveric ribs to quantify plate fit and to extract a best-fit plating ...

Transverse bending of ribbed rectangular plates

Soviet Applied Mechanics, 1991
The article examines an isotropic plate with an orthogonal system of eccentrically positioned stiffening ribs. Proceeding on the basis of the theory of thin elastic rectangular shells and plates, we represent the theoretical model of the given structure as a three-layer plate.

Thermal Conductivity and Elasticity of Reinforced Plates with Applications to T-ribbed, Π-ribbed and I-ribbed plates

2023
Currently, the preponderance of uses of composites is in the form of laminated or reinforced beams, plates and shells. It is clear that the elaboration of micromechanical models that accurately predict the properties of these structures at the design stage, preferably by means of closed-form design-oriented equations, offers significant advantages to ...

Sound Radiation of Locally Resonant Unidirectionally Ribbed Plates

Volume 1: Acoustics, Vibration, and Phononics, 2021
Abstract This paper suggests a comprehensive case study of acoustic radiation from ribbed plate with inner resonance. Based on explicit design rules and homogenized model for flexural waves, it shows that bending waves propagation significantly differs from classical models in terms of wavenumber features in the neighborhood of local ...
