Molecular and morphological data of the freshwater fish Glandulocauda melanopleura (Characiformes: Characidae) provide evidences of river captures and local differentiation in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. [PDF]
The current distribution of freshwater fishes across multiple basins along Eastern Brazil can be associated to two main events: river captures or temporary paleoconnections.

Establishing new grid-size-dependent attributes to rank areas of endemism for conservation priorities. [PDF]
Abstract Delineating Areas of Endemism (AEs) is crucial for identifying priority areas for biodiversity conservation in a spatial planning framework. Endemicity Analysis in the NDM/VNDM software is one of the primary methodologies for its delineation.

Gas Chromatography Coupled to High Resolution Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry as a High-Throughput Tool for Characterizing Geochemical Biomarkers in Sediments. [PDF]
The performance of gas chromatography coupled to high‐resolution time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (GC‐HRTofMS) for characterizing geochemical biomarkers from sediment samples was evaluated. Two approaches to obtain the geochemical biomarkers were tested: (1) extraction with organic solvent and subsequent derivatization and (2) in‐situ derivatization ...

Ichthyofauna from “serranias costeiras” of the Ribeira de Iguape River basin, Southeast Brazil [PDF]
Abstract: The Ribeira de Iguape River basin has about 100 fish species. This study aimed to characterize the fish community from “serranias costeiras” of the Ribeira de Iguape River basin. Samplings were conducted with electrofishing during the dry season in the years 2018-2019. The sampling effort consisted of 30 streams stretches.

Physical mapping of the 5S and 18S rDNA in ten species of Hypostomus Lacépède 1803 (Siluriformes: Loricariidae): evolutionary tendencies in the genus. [PDF]
Hypostomus is a diverse group with unclear aspects regarding its biology, including the mechanisms that led to chromosome diversification within the group. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with 5S and 18S rDNA probes was performed on ten Hypostomini species. Hypostomus faveolus, H. cochliodon, H. albopunctatus, H. aff. paulinus, and H. topavae
