Establishing new grid-size-dependent attributes to rank areas of endemism for conservation priorities. [PDF]

open access: yesCladistics
Abstract Delineating Areas of Endemism (AEs) is crucial for identifying priority areas for biodiversity conservation in a spatial planning framework. Endemicity Analysis in the NDM/VNDM software is one of the primary methodologies for its delineation.

Gas Chromatography Coupled to High Resolution Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry as a High-Throughput Tool for Characterizing Geochemical Biomarkers in Sediments. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Anal Chem, 2018
The performance of gas chromatography coupled to high‐resolution time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (GC‐HRTofMS) for characterizing geochemical biomarkers from sediment samples was evaluated. Two approaches to obtain the geochemical biomarkers were tested: (1) extraction with organic solvent and subsequent derivatization and (2) in‐situ derivatization ...

Physical mapping of the 5S and 18S rDNA in ten species of Hypostomus Lacépède 1803 (Siluriformes: Loricariidae): evolutionary tendencies in the genus. [PDF]

open access: yesScientificWorldJournal, 2014
Hypostomus is a diverse group with unclear aspects regarding its biology, including the mechanisms that led to chromosome diversification within the group. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with 5S and 18S rDNA probes was performed on ten Hypostomini species. Hypostomus faveolus, H. cochliodon, H. albopunctatus, H. aff. paulinus, and H. topavae
