Fractal Riblets

AIAA Journal, 2018
Koch-like riblets that iteratively protrude toward the outside (the fluid region) or cave in at the wall are examined. The near-wall microscopic fluid problem is addressed by solving for the Stokes flow with a boundary element method, yielding slip lengths for all the surface shapes considered.

Riblets and form drag

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2020
The effectiveness of riblets in reducing friction drag has been well assessed by many experiments in flat plate flow in the end of the last century. Both theory and experiments showed that the effect of riblets only depends on the local Reynolds number, however some experiments in pressure gradient flow showed increased effectiveness of riblets.

The Influence of Process Parameters on the Forming of Riblets during Riblet Rolling

Key Engineering Materials, 2014
In aeronautics, economic and environmental aspects become increasingly important. As those are very much influenced by the frictional drag of the airplane, a reduction of skin friction which causes a major portion of total aerodynamic drag is desirable.

Analyses of Non Local Effects of Riblets

Aerotecnica Missili & Spazio, 2016
The paper deals with the effects of pressure gradient and shock wave on riblet performance. A model for the numerical simulations of riblets at high Reynolds numbers is presented and results of airfoil flows in subsonic and transonic conditions are discussed and compared with available experiments.
