Machine Learning‐Augmented Molecular Dynamics Simulations (MD) Reveal Insights Into the Disconnect Between Affinity and Activation of ZTP Riboswitch Ligands

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 31, July 28, 2025.
This study combines computational and experimental approaches to study how natural and synthetic small molecules interact with the ZTP riboswitch, a bacterial RNA element that regulates gene expression. Using chemical synthesis, biochemical approaches, and artificial intelligence augmented MD simulations, we analyze both ligand binding and riboswitch ...

Contributions of synaptic energetic dysfunction by microtubule dynamics and microtubule‐based mitochondrial transport disorder to morphine tolerance

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 182, Issue 17, Page 4058-4079, September 2025.
Abstract Background and Purpose Morphine is among the most powerful analgesic, but its long‐term use can cause tolerance. Synaptic ATP supply is critical for maintaining synaptic transmission. Microtubule‐based mitochondrial transport ensures synaptic energy supply.

Roles for DNA polymerase δ in initiating and terminating leading strand DNA replication

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
DNA polymerases epsilon and delta, respectively, perform the majority of leading and lagging strand replication of the eukaryotic nuclear genome. Here the authors map the ribonucleotide fingerprints of the polymerases to show the special roles of ...

Antineoplastic Effects of Thymoquinone on Pancreatic Atypical Acinar Cell Foci Treated With Azaserine

open access: yesJournal of Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2025.
The main purpose of this study was to investigate the antioxidant and anticarcinogenic effects of TQ, which has many traditional uses and is naturally found in Nigella sativa seeds, on the neoplastic changes induced by azaserine in exocrine pancreatic acinar cells.

Remote Control of Eukaryotic Gene Expression by a Modular Ultrasound‐Responsive RNA Toolkit

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 137, Issue 29, July 14, 2025.
A modular RNA‐based sonogenetic toolkit enables remote control of gene expression in eukaryotes by releasing small molecule modulators from ultrasound‐responsive carriers. These modulators activate engineered mRNA elements such as riboswitches, leading to tunable protein expression.

Rapid and reliable RNA resonance assignment by combining chemical and enzymatic stable isotope labeling

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Open, 2022
In this work a rapid RNA assignment approach by combining chemical and enzymatic 13C and 15N stable isotope labeling is introduced. We exemplify the assignment strategy for imino N1H1 purine and N3H3 pyrimidine and aromatic C6H6 pyrimidine, C8H8 purine ...
