Nascent polypeptide chains exit the ribosome in the same relative position in both eucaryotes and procaryotes. [PDF]
We located the polypeptide nascent chain as it leaves cytoplasmic ribosomes from the plant Lemna gibba by immune electron microscopy using antibodies against the small subunit of the enzyme ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase.

Large centric diatoms allocate more cellular nitrogen to photosynthesis to counter slower RUBISCO turnover rates [PDF]
© 2014 Wu, Jeans, Suggett, Finkel and Campbell. Diatoms contribute ~40% of primary production in the modern ocean and encompass the largest cell size range of any phytoplankton group.

The pyrenoid is a proteinaceous structure found in the chloroplast of most unicellular algae. Various studies indicate that ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco) is present in the pyrenoid, although the fraction of Rubisco localized ...

Investigating soil mesofauna cryptic diversity: Current challenges and perspectives
Abstract Cryptic species lacking distinct morphological features are widespread among soil fauna, including such functionally significant groups as springtails, mites and enchytraeids. Their presence, diversity and biomass may impact ecosystem services provided by belowground ecosystems.

Two cowpea Rubisco activase isoforms for crop thermotolerance
Summary A vital crop for sub‐Saharan Africa, cowpea productivity, is threatened by climate change, including increased heatwave intensity, duration and frequency. Rubisco activase (Rca) is a key molecular chaperone that maintains Rubisco activity and, due to its thermal sensitivity, is a key target for improving crop climate resilience.

Immunocytochemical electron-microscopic observation indicated that ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (Rubisco, EC 4.1.1.39) and/or its degradation products are localized in small spherical bodies having a diameter of 0.4-1.2 micro m in ...

Summary The plant stress response mechanism is activated by biotic and abiotic stresses, but its continuous activation typically affects growth. The role of ferritin in regulating biomass accumulation has been extensively characterized in diverse plant species; however, the underlying mechanisms through which it contributes to salt stress tolerance and

Immunogold Labeling of Rubisco In C4 Plant Leaves for Scanning Electron Microscopy
Immunogold labeling was applied to scanning electron microscopy to examine the inner structure of leaves of G4 plants, maize and linger millet. Ultrastructural features of the G4 plant leaves were observed on cross sections in the secondary electron ...
