Nonmetric geometric flows and quasicrystalline topological phases for dark energy and dark matter in $$f(Q)$$ f ( Q ) cosmology

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We elaborate on nonmetric geometric flow theory and metric-affine gravity with applications in modern cosmology. Two main motivations for our research follow from the facts that (1) cosmological models for f(Q) modified gravity theories, MGTs, are ...

Active Transport of Carbon to Demersal Fish Communities in Shelf‐Slope‐Abyssal Systems of the North Atlantic Ocean

open access: yesGlobal Biogeochemical Cycles, Volume 40, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract The biological carbon pump sequesters carbon through passive fluxes of biologically derived carbon, and by active vertical movement of marine organisms. Trophic coupling between pelagic and benthic communities increases the efficiency of the biological carbon pump as less carbon is lost to remineralization.

Ricci flow coupled with harmonic map flow [PDF]

open access: yesAnnales scientifiques de l'École normale supérieure, 2012
We investigate a new geometric flow which consists of a coupled system of the Ricci flow on a closed manifold M with the harmonic map flow of a map phi from M to some closed target manifold N with a (possibly time-dependent) positive coupling constant alpha.

A complex network perspective on brain disease

open access: yesBiological Reviews, Volume 101, Issue 1, Page 364-399, February 2026.
ABSTRACT If brain anatomy and dynamics have a complex network structure as it has become standard to posit, it is reasonable to assume that such a structure should play a key role not only in brain function but also in brain dysfunction. However, exactly how network structure is implicated in brain damage and whether at least some pathologies can be ...

Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy During Liver Transplant: The Anesthesiologist‐Nephrologist Collaboration at a Tertiary University Hospital in Italy

open access: yesClinical Transplantation, Volume 40, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background: Acute kidney injury frequently complicates the end stages of liver diseases, worsening the condition of patients waiting for liver transplants. Continuous renal replacement therapy during liver transplant is still a limited experience, with large variability in the indication criteria.

Facies analysis provides new insights into event bed deposition in a hadal trench environment

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 2, Page 441-477, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Hadal trenches preserve exceptional sedimentary archives of past geological events, yet their depositional processes remain poorly constrained. The Japan Trench captures complex earthquake‐triggered event beds that record repeated sediment‐gravity flows that deliver terrigenous and biogenic material into the trench, informing palaeoseismic ...
