Warped Product Metrics with Rank-1 Ricci Tensor

Locally 2+2 warped product metrics with a Lorentzian base and Riemannian fiber are described in Newman-Penrose formalism. It is shown that solutions with rank-1 Ricci tensor are characterized by Φ 11 + 3Λ = 0 and Φ 00 Φ 22 = (Φ 11 -3Λ) 2 .

On Hermitian surfaces with J -invariant Ricci tensor

Let \(M(J,g)\) be a compact Hermitian surface. Let \(s\) denote the usual scalar curvature of \(M(J,g)\), and \(k\) its conformal scalar curvature. By definition, \(k\) is the scalar curvature with respect to \(g\) of the canonical Weyl structure associated to the Hermitian structure \((J,g)\).

Riemann curvature and the Ricci tensor

Abstract In Chapter 11, we explain how curvature of spaces are described using the Riemann tensor and the Ricci tensor. These will supply the left-hand side of the Einstein equation. Geodesic deviation allows us to identify tidal forces that result from the curvature of spacetime due to gravity.
