Acceptance of golden rice in the Philippine 'rice bowl'
Few science issues in recent years have elicited such polarized public reactions as modern biotechnology and its agricultural applications. Although a new study conducted by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (Ithaca, NY, USA) indicates that Southeast Asian ...

Soybean Auxin Transporter PIN3 Regulates Nitrate Acquisition to Improve Nitrogen Use and Seed Traits
Xu et al. discovers that switching off auxin transporters in soybean, PIN3a and PIN3b, disrupts auxin flow; this triggers ARF‐STF3/4 signal cascade to activate the nitrate importer NPF2.13 and soil nitrogen acquisition. Multi‐year field trials show edited soybeans maintain yield with higher oil content, offering a potential genetic route to improve ...

The Genetic Wiring of Plant Trichomes: From Initiation to Fate Specification
Plant trichomes are not just simple hairs but metabolic powerhouses shaped by complex genetic programs. While the MYB‐bHLH‐WD40 module is well studied in Arabidopsis, recent findings reveal that HD‐Zip IV transcription factors drive multicellular and glandular trichome development through dose‐dependent mechanisms.
