Rice blast, nyctotemperature, and nitrate reductase

Abstract : Data on rice blast disease from the field and laboratory experiments of many workers are reviewed and related to epiphytotics of the disease. Principal topics discussed are (1) sources of inoculum, (2) spore dispersal, (3) meteorological and other conditions required for establishment of infection and disease buildup, (4) spread, (5) yield ...

Selection for Partial Resistance in Rice to Rice Blast
1993A detailed study of the components of partial resistance (PR) latency period, lesion number, and size of the sporulating area in lesions, indicated that lesion number was the most important component. No genetic variation was found for latency period. Analysis showed that lesion number is determined by several minor genes.

Trait collection of rice by resistance to rice blast
Genetičnì resursi roslin (Plant Genetic Resources), 2019Aim. To study the genetic diversity of rice in terms of resistance to disease, to find sources of resistance, to select reference varieties and to form a trait collection of rice accessions with resistance to Pyricularia oryzae Cav. Results and Discussion.

Isolation and identification of a gene in response to rice blast disease in rice
Plant Molecular Biology, 2004We combined cDNA amplified fragment length polymorphism (cDNA-AFLP) with bulked segregant analysis (BSA) to detect genes that control rice blast ( Magnaporthe grisea ) resistance in a double-haploid (DH) population derived from a cross between a blast-resistant variety, Zhai Ye Qing8 (ZYQ8), and a blast-susceptible variety, Jin Xi17 (JX17).

The rice blast fungus genome has been sequenced. Now the major task is to monitor the global changes in its proteome for dissecting the molecular mechanisms underlying rice-blast interaction, fungal development (conidial germination, appressorium morphogenesis and formation of penetration peg), pathogenesis.

Rice blast fungus transcriptomics
Archives Of Phytopathology And Plant Protection, 2010Since genomes of rice and blast fungus are sequenced, global profiling of gene expression i.e. transcriptomics has become an important tool to decipher molecular mechanisms underlying rice–blast interaction and infection related morphogenesis (appressorium formation and maturation, formation of penetration peg).

Resistance to Blast in Hybrid Rice
2000Rice blast caused by Pyricularia grisea (Cooke) Sacc., is one of the most important diseases both in irrigated and upland rice ecosystems, in Brazil. Low durability of the blast resistance has been a common factor for all cultivars released so far to farmers.
