Cutting Properties of Rice Straw
2002 Chicago, IL July 28-31, 2002, 2002As part of an effort to integrate straw and grain harvesting operations, an investigation was undertaken of the cutting properties of straw to aid the development of novel header systems for combines. Results can also be extended to other industrial operations involving straw handling and size reduction.

Integrated rice straw–urea management for transplanted rice
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1996SUMMARYFour field experiments were conducted over the 1992 and 1993 seasons (southwest monsoon seasons, June–October) in the warm subhumid tropical region on the west coast of the Maharashtra State, India. The objective was to investigate the effect of recycling limited amounts of rice straw (RS) (as a source of K and Si) integrated with the use of ...

Hydrothermal Pretreatment of Rice Straw
1993Rice straw was pretreated hydrothermally in a direct flow- through process (percolation with water only) at reaction temperatures between 160 and 280°C. Under these conditions the hemicellulose and a large part of the lignin were dissolved. The solid residue contains mainly the cellulose and some more resistant lignin.
