Hydrothermal Pretreatment of Rice Straw

1993
Rice straw was pretreated hydrothermally in a direct flow- through process (percolation with water only) at reaction temperatures between 160 and 280°C. Under these conditions the hemicellulose and a large part of the lignin were dissolved. The solid residue contains mainly the cellulose and some more resistant lignin.
