DPSK performance for indoor wireless Rician fading channels

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1994
Indoor wireless channels which fade because of reflections from the building structure and the objects within the building have been experimentally found to fit either Rayleigh or Rician statistics. Digital communications performance has been calculated for these models, although in the Rician case numerical methods are typically employed.

Performance of MHPM in Rician and Rayleigh fading mobile channels

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1997
This paper evaluates the error probability of the rectangular frequency pulse multi-h modulation (MHPM) scheme in slowly-fading, frequency-nonselective or frequency-selective Rician and Rayleigh channels. The evaluation is performed with a method combining analysis and computer simulation.

On the design of universal receivers for nonselective Rician-fading channels

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1994
The purpose of this paper is to illustrate the issues involved in designing the demodulator portion of a universal receiver for unknown or time-varying channels by means of a specific example. We consider the class of nonselective Rician fading channels with additive white Gaussian noise.

On the Rician K-factor of Intra-Vehicle Fading Channels

2020 IEEE 31st Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 2020
In this paper, we investigate the fading characteristics in intra-vehicle channels based on a vehicle testbed and measurements which reflect the channel loss behavior contributed by attenuation and fading (large-scale and small-scale). We show that small-scale fading is dominant over other factors such as large-scale fading, which can be described with

Fade margin calculation for channels impaired by Rician fading

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 1985
Excess path loss due to multipath severely restricts the performance of power limited mobile networks such as those using satellite-aided links. To reduce multipath related losses, the higher elevation angle of the spacecraft can be exploited by utilizing mobile antennas which reduce the strength of the multipath reflections in favor of the line-of ...

GFDM/OQAM implementation under Rician fading channel

2016 International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communications and Informatics (ICACCI), 2016
Future wireless applications demand a high data rate per user, low latency, spectral efficiency and high connection density. One of the contenders for 5G, Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing (GFDM), seems to serve the next generation wireless needs due to its attractive properties when compared to the existing cyclic prefix orthogonal FDM (CP ...

Channel Inversion in MIMO Systems over Rician Fading

2010 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM 2010, 2010
We examine the distribution of the per virtual-channel received signal-to-noise ratio over a multiple-input multiple-output channel modeled by a rank-2 non-central Wishart matrix. The exact probability density function is derived for all possible non-centrality matrices; and verified through simulation for selected systems.

On the Mutual Information Distribution of MIMO Rician Fading Channels

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 2009
In a fading environment, the statistical distribution of the mutual information of a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system depends on the joint distribution of the eigenvalues of a Wishart matrix, and is quite complex in general. We obtain here simple expressions for the distributions of the determinant and the trace of a Wishart matrix.

On the performance of DPSK in Rician fading channels with Class A noise

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2000
The performance analysis of a DPSK receiver over frequency nonselective Rician fading channels in Middleton's (1973) Class A noise is presented. With the aid of the characteristic function, the exact bit error rates (BERs) for both selection diversity and equal gain combining are derived.

TCMP-a modulation and coding strategy for Rician fading channels

IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications, 1989
The authors describe TCMP, a novel modulation strategy for Rician fading channels that multiplexes a time domain pilot sequence with trellis-coded data to permit coherent detection. This technique is shown to provide remarkably robust performance in the presence of fading.
