In vivo Terahertz Sensing of Skin Cancer Patients

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study presents the first in vivo measurements of skin cancer patients in a hospital setting using a handheld THz probe. Furthermore, a new analysis approach is developed to generate a patient‐normalized THz response function, which enables clear contrast to be seen between cancer and healthy skin of the same patient. The first in vivo study of skin

Polarization Management on Anisotropic Thin‐Film Lithium Niobate Platform

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This review focuses on x‐cut thin‐film lithium niobate (TFLN), exploring strategies to mitigate anisotropy and mode hybridization. It covers polarization beam splitters, rotators, splitter‐rotators, polarizers, and polarization‐insensitive components. Key applications include polarization‐division multiplexing, polarization‐insensitive modulation, and ...

FTLE for Flow Ensembles by Optimal Domain Displacement [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
FTLE (Finite Time Lyapunov Exponent) computation is one of the standard approaches to Lagrangian flow analysis. The main features of interest in FTLE fields are ridges that represent hyperbolic Lagrangian Coherent Structures. FTLE ridges tend to become sharp and crisp with increasing integration time, where the sharpness of the ridges is an indicator ...

Optimizing Single‐Cell Measurement Using Dynamic Atomic Force Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
This study optimizes optical detection sensitivity in atomic force microscopy for high‐frequency single‐cell imaging in liquid environments. By analyzing laser positioning on microcantilevers, it enhances measurement accuracy and image resolution. Advanced image analysis techniques assess quality, offering guidelines for high‐resolution imaging of ...

Stabilizing Cobalt‐free Li‐rich Layered Oxide Cathodes through Oxygen Lattice Regulation by Two‐phase Ru Doping

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 135, Issue 5, January 26, 2023., 2023
This work comprehensively studies the mechanistic behaviour of cobalt‐free Li1.2Ni0.2Mn0.6O2 and demonstrates the positive impact of two‐phase Ru doping on voltage decay using the combination of in operando and post‐mortem synchrotron analyses. A mechanistic transition from a C2/c phase to a R m phase is reported for the first time.

Prediction modelling with many correlated and zero-inflated predictors: assessing a nonnegative garrote approach [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Building prediction models from mass-spectrometry data is challenging due to the abundance of correlated features with varying degrees of zero-inflation, leading to a common interest in reducing the features to a concise predictor set with good predictive performance. In this study, we formally established and examined regularized regression approaches,

The effect of cultivator/ridger type on the physical properties of ridge, power requirement and potato yield [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
peer-reviewedIn 2002, 2003 and 2004, field trials were carried out in Slovenia in the form of random blocks with five replications. Three potato cultivators/ridgers were used on medium textured soil.

Self‐Detecting Mid‐Infrared Dual‐Comb Spectroscopy Based on High‐Speed Injection‐Locked Quantum Cascade Lasers

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
A compact self‐detecting dual‐comb spectroscopy (DCS) system based on dispersion‐engineered, high‐speed packaged quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) at λ≈4.6 μm under coherent injection locking is demonstrated. Broad multiheterodyne comb signal with reduced tooth linewidths by orders of magnitude is recorded.
