The ridge laboratory [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of 4th international workshop High-pT physics at LHC 09 — PoS(High-pT physics09), 2010
Mechanisms proposed to explain the jet-related correlation of long range in rapidity (the ridge) observed in high-energy heavy-ion collisions are reviewed. Limitations of a model using the combined effect of transverse flow and a direction bias of partons suffering energy loss are discussed.

New ridge parameters for ridge regression [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Association of Arab Universities for Basic and Applied Sciences, 2014
AbstractHoerl and Kennard (1970a) introduced the ridge regression estimator as an alternative to the ordinary least squares (OLS) estimator in the presence of multicollinearity. In ridge regression, ridge parameter plays an important role in parameter estimation.

Repeat ridge jumps associated with plume-ridge interaction, melt transport, and ridge migration [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research, 2011
[1] Repeated shifts, or jumps, of mid-ocean ridge segments toward nearby hot spots can produce large, long-term changes to the geometry and location of the tectonic plate boundaries. Ridge jumps associated with hot spot–ridge interaction are likely caused by several processes including shear on the base of the plate due to expanding plume material as ...

RIDGE MAPPING

open access: yesImplant Dentistry, 1994
An important aspect of surgical diagnosis before implant placement is measurement of the width of the alveolar ridge. Besides the use of radiographic methods, alveolar crest width can be measured by ridge mapping. A ridge mapping technique using a specially designed caliper (Ultimapper) is presented.

Local-Scale Cereal Yield Forecasting in Italy: Lessons from Different Statistical Models and Spatial Aggregations

open access: yesAgronomy, 2020
Statistical, data-driven methods are considered good alternatives to process-based models for the sub-national monitoring of cereal crop yields, since they can flexibly handle large datasets and can be calibrated simultaneously to different areas.

Adding bias to reduce variance in psychological results: A tutorial on penalized regression [PDF]

open access: yesTutorials in Quantitative Methods for Psychology, 2017
Regression models are commonly used in psychological research. In most studies, regression coefficients are estimated via maximum likelihood (ML) estimation.

Power Plant Energy Predictions Based on Thermal Factors Using Ridge and Support Vector Regressor Algorithms

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
This work aims to model the combined cycle power plant (CCPP) using different algorithms. The algorithms used are Ridge, Linear regressor (LR), and upport vector regressor (SVR).

CUTANEOUS RIDGES IN ODONTOCETES [PDF]

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, 1991
AbstractCutaneous ridges are present at the surface of the skin in many odontocetes, and although often quite faint, may be observed with the naked eye. We have taken surface impressions and measured the ridges of individuals of seven odontocete species, and observed cutaneous ridges on three additional species.
