Lecture notes on ridge regression
The linear regression model cannot be fitted to high-dimensional data, as the high-dimensionality brings about empirical non-identifiability. Penalized regression overcomes this non-identifiability by augmentation of the loss function by a penalty (i.e ...

MELE: MAXIMUM ENTROPY LEUVEN ESTIMATORS [PDF]
Multicollinearity hampers empirical econometrics. The remedies proposed to date suffer from pitfalls of their own. The ridge estimator is not generally accepted as a vital alternative to the ordinary least-squares (OLS) estimator because it depends upon ...

Radiative Cooling by Green(er) Solvents‐Upcycled Polyvinyl Chloride From Drug Blisters Waste
This study explores upcycling poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) from used pharmaceutical blisters into sustainable radiative cooling materials. Using solvent separation and membrane fabrication, PVC was converted into white membranes paired with aluminum foil.

Automated poultry processing lines still rely on humans to lift slippery, easily bruised carcasses onto a shackle conveyor. Deformability, anatomical variance, and hygiene rules make conventional suction and scripted motions unreliable. We present ChicGrasp, an end‐to‐end hardware‐software co‐designed imitation learning framework, to offer a ...

This study explores how information processing is distributed between brains and bodies through a codesign approach. Using the “backpropagation through soft body” framework, brain–body coupling agents are developed and analyzed across several tasks in which output is generated through the agents’ physical dynamics.

IMPROVING THE 'HKB' ORDINARY TYPE RIDGE ESTIMATOR
Summary: The HKB estimator of \textit{A. E. Hoerl}, \textit{R. W. Kennard} and \textit{K. F. Baldwin} [Commun. Stat. 4, 105--123 (1975; Zbl 0296.62062)] is known to be an ordinary ridge type shrinkage estimator and an adjustment of degrees of freedom in the ordinary ridge estimator of \textit{R. W. Farebrother} [Technometrics 17, 127--128 (1975)].
