Habitat loss does not affect ecological connectivity for a habitat engineer with short dispersal

open access: yesEcosphere, Volume 17, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Habitat loss, directly linked to anthropogenic activities, is a key driver of biodiversity loss globally; in combination with habitat fragmentation, it leads to smaller, more isolated population patches. Such changes in habitat configuration can negatively impact population connectivity (i.e., the supply of individuals locally or from ...

Isoform‐Level Analysis Reveals Reproducible Early Changes in Transcript Usage During Human Vaccine Responses

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 9, September 2026.
mRNA vaccination triggers an early, transient wave of altered transcript isoform usage peaking at 24 h and resolving by Day 14, affecting genes involved in innate immunity. Confirmed by long‐read sequencing and reproduced across influenza, Ebola, and MVA‐based vaccine cohorts, these results highlight a previously underappreciated feature of vaccine ...

Toward an idiographic understanding of the role of sleep‐mood dynamics in adolescents' internalizing symptoms

open access: yesJCPP Advances, Volume 6, Issue 3, September 2026.
Abstract Background Adolescence is marked by increased vulnerability to sleep disturbances and mood disorders. Understanding how day‐to‐day changes in sleep and mood are linked within the same individual is crucial for clarifying sleep's role in emerging internalizing disorders. However, the extent to which an adolescent's fluctuations in sleep predict

A Semi‐Discrete Lagrangian‐Eulerian Numerical Scheme for Diffusive‐Dispersive Conservation Laws With Discontinuous Coefficient

open access: yesNumerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Volume 42, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT In this work, we present an extension of the semi‐discrete Lagrangian‐Eulerian numerical scheme for diffusive‐dispersive conservation law problems, including a jump discontinuous flux function. As in the one‐dimensional scalar hyperbolic case, the no‐flow curves also organize the geometry of the method.

A Comparative Study of Low‐Dissipation Numerical Schemes for Hyperbolic Conservation Laws

open access: yesNumerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Volume 42, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT This work provides a comparative assessment of several low‐dissipation numerical schemes for hyperbolic conservation laws, highlighting their performance relative to the classical Harten‐Lax‐van Leer (HLL) schemes. The schemes under consideration include the classical Harten‐Lax‐van Leer‐Contact (HLLC), the recently proposed TV flux splitting,

Connectivity of Inhomogeneous Random Graphs II

open access: yesRandom Structures &Algorithms, Volume 69, Issue 2, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Each graphon W:Ω2→[0,1]$$ W:{\Omega}^2\to \left[0,1\right] $$ yields an inhomogeneous random graph model 𝔾(n,W). We show that 𝔾(n,W) is asymptotically almost surely connected if and only if (i) W$$ W $$ is a connected graphon and (ii) the measure of elements of Ω$$ \Omega $$ of W$$ W $$‐degree less than α$$ \alpha $$ is o(α)$$ o\left(\alpha ...

A Metric for Quantifying Spatial Heterogeneity in Gridded Atmospheric Fields

open access: yesEarth and Space Science, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Spatial heterogeneity influences many nonlinear atmospheric processes but it is often described qualitatively or with simple statistical measures that do not capture spatial organization. We introduce a mixing‐oriented metric for gridded fields based on the expected deviation of subdomain means from the global average.

Longer Asthma Duration Is Associated With Elevated Non‐T2 Sputum Biomarkers and Reduced T2 Inflammation in Severe Asthma

open access: yesAllergy, Volume 81, Issue 9, Page 3286-3299, September 2026.
Longer asthma duration is associated with increased airway non‐T2 inflammation and reduced airway and systemic T2 inflammation. Sputum CXCL9 is independently associated with duration and may predict a reduced poor response to anti‐IL‐4Rα therapy. Airway sampling and combined T2 and non‐T2 targeted strategies may be needed in long‐standing asthma. CXCL9,
