C* -Algebras of Real Rank Zero Whose K0's are not Riesz Groups
Examples are constructed of stably finite, imitai, separable C* -algebras A of real rank zero such that the partially ordered abelian groups K0(A) do not satisfy the Riesz decomposition property.

Measures on effect algebras [PDF]
We study measures defined on effect algebras. We characterize real-valued measures on effect algebras and find a class of effect algebras, that include the natural effect algebras of sets, on which σ-additive measures with values in a finite dimensional ...

Financial Statement Information and Equity Value: The Role of Real Options Characteristics
ABSTRACT This paper examines whether firm‐specific real options characteristics are equity value‐relevant beyond valuation estimates anchored in financial statements. Using extensive historical data for the United Kingdom, we assess and compare the forecast accuracy and explanatory power for stock prices of equity valuation models based on residual ...

A note on directly ordered subspaces of ℝn
A comprehensive method of determining if a subspace of usually ordered space Rn is directly-ordered is presented here. Also, it is proven in an elementary way that if a directly-ordered vector space has a positive cone generated by its extreme vectors ...

Hub‐and‐Spoke Collusion With a Third‐Party Pricing Algorithm
ABSTRACT A data analytics company delivers an efficiency by supplying a pricing algorithm that allows prices to more effectively respond to demand variation. In this setting, I consider a new form of hub‐and‐spoke collusion: A data analytics company (hub) coordinates the prices of competitors (spokes) through its pricing algorithm.

Operator martingale decomposition and the Radon-Nikodym property in Banach spaces
We consider submartingales and uniform amarts of maps acting between a Banach lattice and a Banach lattice or a Banach space. In this measure-free setting of martingale theory, it is known that a Banach space Y has the Radon-Nikodým property if and only

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

Littlewood, Paley and almost‐orthogonality: a theory well ahead of its time
Abstract The classic paper by Littlewood and Paley [J. Lond. Math. Soc. (1), 6 (1931), 230–233] marked the birth of Littlewood–Paley theory. We discuss this paper and its impact from a historical perspective, include an outline of the results in the paper and their subsequent significance in relation to developments over the last century, and set them ...

Quasibounded solutions to the complex Monge–Ampère equation
Abstract We study the Dirichlet problem for the complex Monge–Ampère operator on B‐regular domains in Cn$\mathbb {C}^n$, allowing boundary data that is singular or unbounded. We extend the concept of pluri‐quasibounded functions on the domain to functions on the boundary, defined by the existence of plurisuperharmonic majorants that dominate their ...

An isomorphic characterization of L1-spaces
We show that a sequentially (τ)-complete topological vector lattice Xτ is isomorphic to some L1(μ), if and only if the positive cone can be written as X+ = ℝ+B for some convex, (τ)-bounded, and (τ)-closed set B ⊂ X+ \ {0}.
