Prevalence of SARS‐CoV2 in Communities Surrounding Bwindi–Mgahinga Mountain Gorilla Conservation Area, Uganda

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 4, December 2026.
COVID‐19 threatens endangered mountain gorilla populations due to close human contact. A cross‐sectional study (n = 576) in communities around Bwindi–Mgahinga Conservation Area found 8.0% prevalence of SARS‐CoV2. Frequent handwashing was a predictor for reduced prevalence of SARS‐CoV2. Strengthening prevention measures is critical to limit transmission

Determinants of Age‐Appropriate Childhood Immunization Uptake: A Cross‐Sectional Study of Caregiver, Child, Knowledge, Access, and Attitudinal Factors

open access: yesPublic Health Challenges, Volume 5, Issue 4, December 2026.
Full immunization for age was achieved by 71.7% of children. Caregiver education, health facility delivery, rural residence, regular community immunization services, and positive caregiver attitudes significantly increased coverage, highlighting the need to strengthen primary health care services, health education, and equitable access to routine ...

The Ripple Effects of Misattributed Parentage: The Systemic Family Impact of “Not Parent Expected” Discoveries

open access: yesFamily Process, Volume 65, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Direct‐to‐consumer (DTC) DNA testing has led to a surge in misattributed parentage discoveries, often referred to as “not parent expected” (NPE) events. While prior research has focused primarily on the experiences of those discovering a parent was not as expected, this qualitative study explores the systemic impact of NPE events on entire ...

A new species of Lonchidiidae (Hybodontiformes) from the Late Jurassic of Brazil (Aliança Formation, Jatobá Basin)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 309, Issue 11, Page 3091-3105, November 2026.
Abstract The Aliança Formation (Jatobá Basin) represents lacustrine deposits formed in oxygenated waters that hosted a diverse fauna, including Hybodontiform sharks. Within this group, the Family Lonchidiidae comprises 11 valid genera, with Parvodus previously reported in Brazilian deposits from the Brejo Santo Formation (Araripe Basin, Late Jurassic ...

Disentangling the depositional, tectonic and diagenetic history of a unique case of rhombic calcite in marine carbonate scree‐like deposits in the Cretaceous Cauvery Basin

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 5, November 2026.
A succession of marine deposited scree deposits got exposed to meteoric fluids due to sea level drop or tectonic uplift. This potentially caused a unique form of diagenetic transformation in scree deposits, that is the formation of micro rhombic calcite.
