Right paraduodenal hernia: characteristic MDCT findings
Abdominal Imaging, 2010Right paraduodenal hernia is a very rare cause of abdominal pain. It can lead to bowel obstruction, ischemia, and perforation with a high mortality. A timely and correct diagnosis with a rapid diagnostic tool is mandatory. However, clinical diagnosis of right paraduodenal hernia is difficult for its nonspecific symptoms.

Right paraduodenal hernia successfully treated with laparoscopic surgery
Asian Journal of Endoscopic Surgery, 2015AbstractA 23‐year‐old Japanese man presented with a history of sudden‐onset right abdominal pain accompanied by nausea and vomiting. Up to 1898, Moynihan,1in his exhaustive study of the subject, had been able to compile only fourteen cases of right paraduodenal hernia, and only one case in which successful operative treatment had been carried out. Nagel,2in a recent review of the subject, brings the number of reported cases up to twenty-nine, including the one that he himself ...

Abstract 1. 1. This case of right paraduodenal hernia, as far as could be determined, was the forty-first to be reported in the literature, the twenty-fourth to have been operated and the twelfth to have recovered. 2. 2. Single case reports have been in the majority. 3. 3.

Examples are recorded in the literature of passage of the intestines through the foramen of Winslow, through the mesenteries, under the cecum, into the intersigmoid fossa and other peritoneal pockets, notably those about the duodenojejunal flexure. The last named constitute the so-called paraduodenal hernias, of which there are two types: left and ...

Right paraduodenal hernia leading to bowel strangulation
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 2011Up to half of all internal hernias are caused by paraduodenal hernia, a rare congenital midgut malrotation that accounts for less than 1% of all intestinal obstructions. The diagnosis may arise from an incidental finding on abdominal imaging or the patient may present with abdominal pain, vomiting, and obstipation.

The subject of paraduodenal (internal or mesentericoparietal) hernia is one which has always greatly interested any physician fortunate enough to encounter the condition. The first report of right paraduodenal hernia was given by Klob in 1861. Nagel in 1923 collected the 29 cases reported up to that time. Exner in 1933 added the 11 authenticated cases

Right paraduodenal hernia in childhood: A case report
Journal of Pediatric Surgery, 1989A 7-year-old patient was recently treated surgically for a right paraduodenal hernia. Paraduodenal hernia is a rare cause of chronic abdominal complaints, as well as acute obstruction, and although it is not typical, it can manifest in childhood. The term "hernia" is a misnomer since this condition results from anomalous intestinal rotation.

Right paraduodenal hernias are a relatively rare congenital malformation with a total of 50 clinical cases having been reported. This anomaly can be seen as total encapsulation of the small bowel or a single loop within a hernia sac. Symptoms are often chronic vague abdominal pain and intermittent obstructive episodes.
