Red Fluorescent Protein‐Metal Organic Framework Hybrids for Lighting Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate the encapsulation in a metal‐organic framework (MOF) of two red fluorescent proteins, DsRed and mCherry. The materials conserve all spectroscopical and structural properties of the underlying components, which allows for their implementation as color down‐converting materials in bio‐hybrid light‐emitting diodes, which exhibit average 3 ...

Bridging the gap between individual privacy and public security

open access: yesGroningen Journal of International Law, 2014
This article outlines the concept and origin of privacy law as it is applied today in various jurisdictions around the world. It then provides examples of governmental intervention affecting the privacy rights of individuals and critically examines their

Bayesian‐Optimized Dual‐Mode Luminescence‐Based Optical Thermometry Enabled by Negative Thermal Expansion in Lu2(MoO4)3:Yb–Er–Tm Phosphor

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A Bayesian optimization framework identifies the ideal composition for Lu2(MoO4)3:Yb–Er–Tm phosphors with minimal experimental trials. By leveraging the host's negative thermal expansion, the material achieves remarkable thermal quenching compensation.

Scalable Task Planning via Large Language Models and Structured World Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work efficiently combines graph‐based world representations with the commonsense knowledge in Large Language Models to enhance planning techniques for the large‐scale environments that modern robots will need to face. Planning methods often struggle with computational intractability when solving task‐level problems in large‐scale environments ...

Learning Highly Dynamic Skills Transition for Quadruped Jumping Through Constrained Space

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A quadruped robot masters dynamic jumps through constrained spaces with animal‐inspired moves and intelligent vision control. This hierarchical learning approach combines imitation of biological agility with real‐time trajectory planning. Although legged animals are capable of performing explosive motions while traversing confined spaces, replicating ...

The Right to (Not) Be Forgotten, Right to Know, and Model of Four Categories of the Right to Be Forgotten

open access: yes, 2023
AbstractBoth at the level of the most basic civil and democratic rights declared at the constitutional level and specifically in the field of archiving, there has long been a fundamental tension between two principles: On the one hand, it is the right to the protection of personality, privacy, and the private sphere, specifically expressed also in the ...

Continual Learning for Multimodal Data Fusion of a Soft Gripper

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Models trained on a single data modality often struggle to generalize when exposed to a different modality. This work introduces a continual learning algorithm capable of incrementally learning different data modalities by leveraging both class‐incremental and domain‐incremental learning scenarios in an artificial environment where labeled data is ...

A Soft Robotic Fish With a Dielectric Elastomer Actuator Body and Negative Stiffness Spine

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work introduces a bio‐mimetic soft robotic fish driven by fiber‐reinforced dielectric elastomer actuators integrated as its body. By prestretching this active skin against a flexible spine, a negative stiffness system is created, enabling large‐amplitude bending.
