Data from a prospective cohort with 112 auditory brainstem implant users are analyzed. Younger age at implantation (<3 years), less severe inner‐ear malformation (common cavity, cochlear aplasia, and hypoplasia), and more intraoperative eABR evoked electrodes (≥60%) are associated with better hearing and speech outcomes.

Reinitiation of compensatory lung growth after subsequent lung resection [PDF]
ObjectiveIn experimental animals, pneumonectomy results in rapid, hyperplastic compensatory growth of the remaining lung. The limits of this induced growth are unknown. We tested the hypothesis that compensatory growth can be reinitiated in the same lung

Unraveling the mysteries of cardiac contraction has been a major preoccupation of the cardiac investigators. More recently, the right ventricle is in focus, especially the right ventricle in the systemic position. The differences between the right and the left ventricles in myocardial architecture,

Non‐Invasive Diagnosis of Chronic Myocardial Infarction via Composite In‐Silico‐Human Data Learning
This study presents a non‐invasive machine learning model to identify infarct regions in the left ventricle using cardiac strain data. By combining rodent‐based simulated data with limited human data, the model achieves high accuracy in predicting infarct size and location without the need for gadolinium contrast agents, offering a promising ...

Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

An anatomical review of the right ventricle
Background: The right ventricle is the most anteriorly positioned chamber of the heart, sitting directly posterior to the sternum. The distinct anatomical features of the right ventricle create an approximately 10-fold difference in vascular resistance ...

Failed detection of complex congenital heart disease (including double outlet right ventricle and total anomalous pulmonary venous return) by neonatal pulse oximetry screening [PDF]
We report on a newborn infant with complex congenital heart disease (CHD) featuring double outlet right ventricle and hypoplastic left ventricle who had postductal oxygen saturation well above 95% and thus eluded pulse oximetry screening for ...
