Double-Chambered Right Ventricle

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1987
Thirty (10.8%) of 279 patients undergoing correction of a ventricular septal defect (VSD) from January, 1972, to September, 1986, also had a double-chambered right ventricle (DCRV). Age at operation ranged from 1.3 to 18.8 years (mean, 6.7 +/- 4.5 years [+/- standard deviation]). Seventeen patients were male, and 13 were female.

Double-Chambered Right Ventricle

The Annals of Thoracic Surgery, 1973
Abstract Two patients with aberrant muscle bundles producing double-chambered right ventricle are reported. Elements of recognition of this unusual deformity are presented and discussed. Successful surgical correction of the double-chambered right ventricle and associated defects is illustrated.

Right Ventricle in Pulmonary Hypertension

Comprehensive Physiology, 2011
AbstractDuring heart development chamber specification is controlled and directed by a number of genes and a fetal heart gene expression pattern is revisited during heart failure (39). In the setting of chronic pulmonary hypertension the right ventricle undergoes hypertrophy, which is likely initially adaptive, but often followed by decompensation ...

Noncompaction of the Right Ventricle

Pediatric Cardiology, 2010
Noncompaction of the ventricular myocardium is a disease characterized by an increase of the ventricular trabecular meshwork caused by arrest of the normal endomyocardial morphogenesis (Figs. 1, 2, 3). In accordance with the normal human anatomy, the left ventricular wall is well compacted with a few thin trabeculae; on the contrary, the normal right ...

The right ventricle

Practical Perioperative Transoesophageal Echocardiography, 2018
The first part of Chapter 12 details the relevant anatomy, physiology, and TOE views required for accurate assessment of the RV. Included are several useful imaging planes that are not presented in Chapter 4: Standard views.

The Right Ventricle

2010
The right ventricle is the most anteriorly situated cardiac chamber, lying directly behind the sternum. It “wraps around” the left ventricle (Fig. 8.1). The internal appearance of the right ventricle is typical. The shape of the cavity can be imaged as an open “V” with a wide muscular separation between the tricuspid and the pulmonic valves (Fig. 8.2).

Right Atrium and Right Ventricle

2016
Uptake of SPECT MPI radiopharmaceuticals within the thin-walled right atrium itself, and more focally within the right auricular appendage, is normal. Avid uptake within the right ventricular free wall, particularly when associated with a flattened septum and D-shaped left ventricle, is consistent with pulmonary hypertension and RV hypertrophy ...
