Protect right: right ventricular failure prevention strategy for left ventricular assist device implantation.

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, 2020
Right ventricular failure imparts poor prognosis following left ventricular assist device implantation. We present a strategy for the primary prevention of right ventricular failure after left ventricular assist device implantation in a high-risk patient.

Occupational Therapy’s Role with Ventricular Assist Devices and the Promotion of Travel Protocols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
An option for individuals diagnosed with end-stage heart failure is to receive a ventricular assist device (VAD). In 2006, Shepherd and Wilding produced an article regarding occupational therapy’s role during the VAD process as they anticipated a growing

Intraoperative Hemodynamic and Echocardiographic Measurements Associated With Severe Right Ventricular Failure After Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantation

open access: yesAnesthesia and Analgesia, 2019
BACKGROUND: Severe right ventricular failure (RVF) after left ventricular assist device (LVAD) implantation increases morbidity and mortality. We investigated the association between intraoperative right heart hemodynamic data, echocardiographic ...

Cardiomyocyte‐Enriched USP20 Ameliorates Pathological Cardiac Hypertrophy by Targeting STAT3 Deubiquitination

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cardiomyocyte‐enriched USP20 regulates the K63‐linked ubiquitination of STAT3, and the cardiomyocyte‐specific USP20‐STAT3‐CARM1 axis exerts a protective role in cardiac hypertrophy. Targeting USP20 through cardiac‐specific gene therapy presents a promising strategy for the treatment of cardiac hypertrophy.

An unknown complication of peripherally inserted central venous catheter in a patient with ventricular assist device

open access: yesAnnals of Cardiac Anaesthesia, 2011
We report an unknown complication of peripherally inserted central venous catheter in a patient with Ventricular Assist Device. This rare complication led to the failure of the right ventricular assist device, which could be detrimental in patients with ...
