Locus Coeruleus Noradrenergic‐Spinal Projections Contribute to Electroacupuncture‐Mediated Antinociception in Postoperative Pain in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How locus coeruleus noradrenergic‐spinal projections and subsequent α2A adrenoceptors‐CaMKII signaling cascades contribute to electroacupuncture‐induced antinociception in postoperative pain in mice is described. Abstract Postoperative pain remains a significant challenge in healthcare.

Right ventricular temporal assist device for cardiac recompensation

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, 2017
AbstractIn this case report, we discuss treatment of a 66‐year‐old patient with right heart failure due to chronic left heart failure caused by ischemic cardiomyopathy. We decided to manage this patient by implanting a temporary right ventricular assist device (Impella RP®) as a novel therapeutic option for acute on chronic right heart decompensation.

Generation of Neural Organoids and Their Application in Disease Modeling and Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Neural organoids provide a versatile platform for neurological research. Advances in organoid technology have partially achieved human neural tissue complexity in terms of tissue structure, cell diversity, and neural signaling, offering insights into neural disorders and regenerative strategies. Technology advances from biomaterials, bio‐manufacturing,

A Human Engineered Heart Tissue‐Derived Lipotoxic Diabetic Cardiomyopathy Model Revealed Early Benefits of Empagliflozin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study develops a human engineered heart tissue‐derived model of diabetic cardiomyopathy that accurately replicates the dynamic changes in the structural, contractile, and electrophysiological properties of the myocardium. Furthermore, this model is used to confirm the direct protective effects of empagliflozin on the heart through an SGLT2 off ...

Implantation of Short-Term and Long-Term Right Ventricular Assist Devices

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Cardiovascular Surgery
The last decade has seen considerable growth in the use of left ventricular assist devices (LVAD), in end-phase heart failure treatment. The indications, contraindications and implantation techniques are well-defined.

Association of preoperative duration of inotropy on prevalence of right ventricular failure following LVAD implantation

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, 2020
Aims 20% to 40% of left ventricular assist device (LVAD) device implantations are complicated by right ventricular (RV) failure that results in significant morbidity and mortality. We hypothesized that the duration on milrinone infusion is an independent

CD103+ T Cells Eliminate Damaged Alveolar Epithelial Type II Cells Under Oxidative Stress to Prevent Lung Tumorigenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work unravels a novel function of CD103+ T cells in eradicating oxidative‐stressed somatic cells to prevent lung tumorigenesis and identifies specific CD103+ T cell‐decline as a key feature in the aged lung. This comprehensive study highlights the contribution of immuno‐dysregulation to the high incidence of aging‐associated lung cancers ...

Predictors of right ventricular failure in patients after left ventricular assist device implantation

open access: yesТерапевтический архив
Background. To determine predictors of early and late right ventricular failure (RVF) according to transthoracic echocardiography (TTEchoCG) and right heart catheterisation (RHC) in patients with left ventricular assist device (LVAD).
