Embracing Uncertainty Flexibility: Harnessing a Supervised Tree Kernel to Empower Ensemble Modelling for 2D Echocardiography-Based Prediction of Right Ventricular Volume [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
The right ventricular (RV) function deterioration strongly predicts clinical outcomes in numerous circumstances. To boost the clinical deployment of ensemble regression methods that quantify RV volumes using tabular data from the widely available two-dimensional echocardiography (2DE), we propose to complement the volume predictions with uncertainty ...

Reinforcing Stromal Cell Spheroid Through Red‐Light Preconditioning for Advanced Vascularization

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to enhance stromal cell therapy for myocardial infarction by combining OLED‐based photobiomodulation (OPBM) preconditioning with 3D spheroid culture of hADSCs. The engineered spheroids improve angiogenesis, arterialization, and cardiac function in vivo, offering a next‐generation therapeutic strategy to overcome ...

Prevalence of congenital heart defects in Europe, 2008–2015: A registry‐based study

open access: yesBirth Defects Research, Volume 114, Issue 20, Page 1404-1416, December 1, 2022., 2022
Abstract Background The total prevalence of congenital heart defects (CHDs) varies by populations and over time. Studies that examine trends in the prevalence of CHD in different regions may shed light on our understanding of the occurrence of CHD and the impact of different risk factors.

Hemi-Fontan or Bidirectional Cavopulmonary Shunt for Right Ventricular Failure after Mitral Valve Replacement and Acute Ascending Aortic Dissection: Report of Two Cases

open access: yesJournal of Tehran University Heart Center, 2015
Right ventricular failure due to right coronary artery disease, right ventricular hypertrophy, stunning, abnormal septal motion, myocardial infarction, or non-homogeneous distribution of cardioplegia is an uncommon but serious complication of open heart ...

In Vivo Cytosolic Delivery of Biomolecules into Neurons for Super‐Resolution Imaging and Genome Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The N1 peptide specifically targets neurons, enabling cytosolic delivery of fluorescent dyes and proteins for super‐resolution imaging and functional genetic modification. Abstract Efficient delivery of biomolecules into neurons has significant impacts on therapeutic applications in the central nervous system (CNS) and fundamental neuroscience research.

Comparison of vectorcardiographic parameters with structural-functional state of the right ventricle in patients with pulmonary hypertension [PDF]

open access: yesСистемные гипертензии, 2015
Changes of the vectrocardiographic ventricular gradient (VG) in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) are indicative of right ventricular (RV) overload and may be used to assess its severity.

Improving the Scan-rescan Precision of AI-based CMR Biomarker Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Quantification of cardiac biomarkers from cine cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) data using deep learning (DL) methods offers many advantages, such as increased accuracy and faster analysis. However, only a few studies have focused on the scan-rescan precision of the biomarker estimates, which is important for reproducibility and longitudinal ...

The FGF13‐Caveolin‐1 Axis: A Key Player in the Pathogenesis of Doxorubicin‐ and D‐Galactose‐Induced Premature Cardiac Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The FGF13 level is significantly downregulated in premature aging murine hearts subject to D‐galactose and Doxorubicin. FGF13 overexpression and deficiency exacerbated and alleviated Doxorubicin/D‐galactose‐induced myocardial aging characteristics and functional impairment, respectively.

Neuroimaging for differential diagnosis of transient neurological attacks

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 12, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Background Rapid yet comprehensive neuroimaging protocols are required for patients with suspected acute stroke. However, stroke mimics can account for approximately one in five clinically diagnosed acute ischemic strokes and the rate of thrombolyzed mimics can be as high as 17%.
