Physiological and clinical consequences of relief of right ventricular outflow tract obstruction late after repair of congenital heart defects. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
BACKGROUND: Right ventricular outflow tract obstruction (RVOTO) is a common problem after repair of congenital heart disease. Percutaneous pulmonary valve implantation (PPVI) can treat this condition without consequent pulmonary regurgitation or ...

Advanced Flexible Robotic Systems for the Early Diagnosis and Treatment of Cancer and Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Flexible surgical robots are advancing minimally invasive interventions for cardiovascular diseases and cancer by enabling precise navigation through complex, submillimeter anatomical pathways. This review highlights recent innovations in actuation, bio‐integrated sensing, AI‐assisted control, and friction‐reduction technologies, discusses current ...

A Spatiotemporal Single‐Cell Atlas Uncovers Dysregulated ECM Dynamics and Septal Remodeling Arrest in Human Ventricular Septal Defects

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Integrating single‐cell and spatial transcriptomics reveals human ventricular septal defect (VSD) as a disease of microenvironmental insufficiency and structural remodeling arrest. Attenuated endothelial‐fibroblast crosstalk, alongside downregulated THBS1/TGF‐β1 and MMP2 signaling networks, impairs the endothelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EndoMT) and

Left ventricular outflow tract obstruction

open access: yes, 2016
Conditions that result in left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, i.e. valvular aortic stenosis, due to a bicuspid aortic valve, and subvalvular and supravalvular aortic stenosis are discussed.

Pulmonary Atresia with Intact Ventricular Septum Causing Severe Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We describe an infant with pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum (PAIVS) and severe left ventricular outflow tract (LVOT) obstruction secondary to a suprasystemic right ventricle causing leftward displacement of the interventricular septum ...

Optimizing Cancer Vaccinations Using a Physiologically‐Based Pharmacokinetic/Pharmacodynamic (PBPK/PD) Model

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Where and when should a cancer vaccine be administered? A whole‐body PBPK model demonstrates that systemic immune transport critically determines vaccination efficacy. By simulating how organ‐specific immune interactions influence treatment response, the study provides a quantitative framework for optimizing cancer vaccination strategies.

Right ventricular myxoma causing pulmonary outflow tract obstruction [PDF]

open access: yesInteractive CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery, 2011
A patient presented with shortness of breath, lethargy and weight loss. A computerized tomography and echocardiogram showed a mass in the right ventricle nearly obstructing the pulmonary valve during systole and prolapsing into the main pulmonary artery. The mass was completely excised. Histology was that of a typical myxoma.

A Hypothalamic Oxytocinergic–Sympathetic Axis Couples Anxiety Dysregulation With Impaired Tendon–Bone Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
RCI is associated with functional suppression of oxytocinergic neurons in the PVN. Reduced PVNOXT neuronal activity contributes to altered sympathetic regulation involving the IML–sympathetic chain pathway, accompanied by changes in norepinephrine signaling at the BTI.

Right ventricular exclusion for hepatocellular carcinoma metastatic to the heart

open access: yesJournal of Cardiothoracic Surgery, 2010
We used for the first time a right ventricular exclusion procedure for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma metastatic to the right ventricle. Our case report shows that this surgical option can be effective as rescue therapy for right ventricular ...
