Preparing for the Next Transformation in Pavement Management
Since the initial development of a systems approach for managing pavements in the late 1970's and early 1980's, there have been tremendous changes in the way transportation agencies have designed, constructed, and managed their pavement networks. In just

Unlocking Terahertz Steganography: Authentication of Hidden Images in Flexible Media
Hidden information in multilayered devices, such as steganographic portraits, is detected and authenticated using reflection‐mode terahertz time‐domain imaging. Image reconstruction relies on a dedicated figure‐of‐merit obtained by integrating the signal intensity over the time‐window associated with the reflection from the metallic mirror backing the ...

Biodegradable and Edible Milli‐Fluidic Logic Circuits
Fully biodegradable and edible fluidic circuits are developed using gelatin‐based valves that operate at low pressure. Logic gates, a one‐bit memory, and a ring oscillator are demonstrated, showing that biodegradable materials can perform computation and control.

Predicting asphalt pavement temperature with a three-dimentional finite element method
A Three-dimensional (3D) finite element (FE) model was developed to calculate the temperature of a pavement located in Northeast of Portugal. A case study was developed to validate the model.

Evaluation of U.S. and European Concrete Pavement Noise Reduction Methods, July 2006 [PDF]
Highway noise is one of the most pressing of the surface characteristics issues facing the concrete paving industry. This is particularly true in urban areas, where not only is there a higher population density near major thoroughfares, but also a ...
