Rigid Pavement Stresses under Aircraft Loading

Transportation Engineering Journal of ASCE, 1971
Surface strain measurements were made under field loading conditions on an airport rigid pavement. Theorectical calculations for the same loading conditions were carried out using finite element and pavement structure properties as determined by laboratory tests on materials sampled from the test site.

Dynamic analysis of rigid pavement with vehicle–pavement interaction

International Journal of Pavement Engineering, 2009
Study of the dynamic response of pavements due to moving loads such as vehicles and aircraft has received significant attention in recent years because of its relevance to the design of pavements and airport runways. This paper presents an improved solution algorithm based on the finite-element method to analyse rigid pavements under moving vehicular ...

Subgrade Contact Pressures under Rigid Pavements

Journal of Transportation Engineering, 1983
Subgrade contact pressures under rigid pavements were analyzed using the finite element method for concrete slabs on liquid and elastic subgrades. It was found that when the maximum bending stress in the slab is made in agreement in the two analyses, the deflections and subgrade contact pressures are much greater for elastic than for liquid subgrades ...
