Fluid Biomarkers of Disease Burden and Cognitive Dysfunction in Progressive Supranuclear Palsy

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying objective biomarkers for progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP) is crucial to improving diagnosis and establishing clinical trial and treatment endpoints. This study evaluated fluid biomarkers in PSP versus controls and their associations with regional 18F‐PI‐2620 tau‐PET, clinical, and cognitive outcomes.

Improving the flexural rigidity of laminated bamboo beams using fiber reinforcement polymer

open access: yesCogent Engineering
Laminated bamboo presents potential physical and mechanical properties for being used as a construction material. However, this material presents low capacity if being used as a beam with a bending moment load due to its low flexural rigidity.

Some rigidity results for non-commutative Bernoulli shifts☆

open access: yes, 2006
We introduce the outer conjugacy invariants S ( σ ) , S s ( σ ) for cocycle actions σ of discrete groups G on type II 1 factors N, as the set of real numbers t > 0 for which the amplification σ t of σ can be perturbed to an action, respectively, to a ...

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Downward Nominal and Real Wage Rigidity: Survey Evidence from European Firms [PDF]

open access: yes
It has been well established that the wages of individual workers react little, especially downwards, to shocks that hit their employer. This paper presents new evidence from a unique survey of firms across Europe on the prevalence of downward wage ...

Rigidity results for thermostats

open access: yes
A thermostat is a dynamical system modelling the motion of a particle on a surface under the influence of a force that is always orthogonal to its velocity. Since this force is allowed to depend on the particle's velocity, the system can be dissipative.

Posterior Cortical Atrophy in the Asia‐Pacific: A Report From the PCA Asian Workgroup

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA) is a distinct dementia syndrome primarily affecting spatial abilities and visual processing. It is associated with degeneration in the posterior part of the brain. PCA is subclassified into PCA‐pure and PCA‐plus syndromes based on consensus criteria.

Eigenvalue pinching and application to the stability and the almost umbilicity of hypersurfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper we give pinching theorems for the first nonzero eigenvalue of the Laplacian on the compact hypersurfaces of ambient spaces with bounded sectional curvature.

A rigidity result for dimension data

open access: yes, 2013
The dimension datum of a closed subgroup of a compact Lie group is a sequence by assigning the invariant dimension of each irreducible representation restricting to the subgroup. We prove that any sequence of dimension data contains a converging sequence with limit the dimension datum of a subgroup interrelated to subgroups giving this sequence.

CSF Monoamine Metabolites and Cognitive Trajectory in Early Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Imaging and postmortem studies indicate that abnormalities in monoaminergic neurotransmission contribute to cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease (PD). However, it remains uncertain if cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) monoamine metabolites can serve as biomarkers of cognitive decline in early PD.
