A Feasibility Study for Life Signs Monitoring via a Continuous‐Wave Radar

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, Volume 2012, Issue 1, 2012., 2012
We present a feasibility study for life signs detection using a continuous‐wave radar working in the band around 4 GHz. The data‐processing is carried out by using two different data processing approaches, which are compared about the possibility to characterize the frequency behaviour of the breathing and heartbeat activity.

Thermal Emissions of Active Craters at Stromboli Volcano: Spatio‐Temporal Insights From 10 Years of Satellite Observations

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Solid Earth, Volume 129, Issue 9, September 2024.
Abstract Open‐vent volcanoes continuously emit magmatic products and frequently feature multiple adjacent craters. Temporal shifts of thermal emissions between craters are especially detectable by InfraRed satellites. Here, SENTINEL‐2 and LANDSAT‐8/9 Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) high‐spatial resolution satellite data, are combined to investigate 10 years

Coseismic Fault Model of Mw 8.3 2015 Illapel Earthquake (Chile) Retrieved from Multi-Orbit Sentinel1-A DInSAR Measurements

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2016
On 16 September 2015, a Mw 8.3 interplate thrust earthquake ruptured offshore the Illapel region (Chile). Here, we perform coseismic slip fault modeling based on multi-orbit Sentinel 1-A (S1A) data.

Large Isotopic Shift in Volcanic Plume CO2 Prior to a Basaltic Paroxysmal Explosion

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 51, Issue 15, 16 August 2024.
Abstract Carbon dioxide is a key gas to monitor at volcanoes because its concentration and isotopic signature can indicate changes to magma supply and degassing behavior prior to eruptions, yet carbon isotopic fluctuations at volcanic summits are not well constrained.

Noninvasive Remote Sensing Techniques for Infrastructures Diagnostics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Geophysics, Volume 2011, Issue 1, 2011., 2011
The present paper aims at analyzing the potentialities of noninvasive remote sensing techniques used for detecting the conservation status of infrastructures. The applied remote sensing techniques are ground‐based microwave radar interferometer and InfraRed Thermography (IRT) to study a particular structure planned and made in the framework of the ...

Clustered and rotating designs as a strategy to obtain precise detection rates in camera trapping studies

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 61, Issue 7, Page 1649-1661, July 2024.
Our research provides a guideline for wildlife managers and researchers to improve the precision of camera trap detection rates and optimize resource allocation. In general, the study design should accommodate the behaviour of the target species (e.g.
