Photocatalytic Water Splitting on the Lunar Surface: Prospects for In Situ Resource Utilization

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Water has been found in craters on the moon nearby locations which are illuminated >80% of the time. Photocatalysis uses energy from sunlight to drive chemical reactions such as water splitting to produce oxygen and hydrogen. It is a scalable technology that requires lighter equipment and utilizes resources available on the moon. ABSTRACT The discovery

Printed Interconnects for Heterogeneous Systems Integration on Flexible Substrates

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
Key components (sensors, energy devices, communication devices, computing chips, and interconnects) of flexible hybrid electronic (FHE) system connected via conductive printed metal tracks. The figure in the insets shows out‐of‐plane printed interconnects providing opportunities for lithography‐free formation of VIAs, in‐plane access of UTCs pads, and ...

Brownian Web and Oriented Percolation: Density Bounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
In a recent work, we proved that under diffusive scaling, the collection of rightmost infinite open paths in a supercritical oriented percolation configuration on the space-time lattice Z^2 converges in distribution to the Brownian web.

Zone‐Sectored Organic Crystals with Spatially Resolved Exciton Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Novel type of rubrene microcrystals in the orthorhombic phase are grown exhibiting spatial contrast in spectra and dynamics due to differences in unit cell orientation. Distinct zones selectively host redshifted luminescence band at ≈650 nm driven by high photon absorption.

Compositional heterogeneity of fine-grained rims in the Semarkona (LL3) chondrite [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
The fine-grained opaque matrix and chondrule rims in the Semarkona (LL3) chondrite have been investigated in detail with the scanning electron microscope. The chemical analyses were made by the SEM-EDS technique.

Excitonic Landscapes in Monolayer Lateral Heterostructures Revealed by Unsupervised Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Hyperspectral photoluminescence data from graded MoxW1 − xS2 alloys and monolayer MoS2–WS2 lateral heterostructures are analyzed using unsupervised machine learning. The combined use of PCA, t‐SNE, and DBSCAN uncovers distinct excitonic regions that trace how composition, strain, and defects modulate optical responses in these 2D materials.

A Novel Separation Technique of Flexural Loading-Induced Acoustic Emission Sources in Railway Prestressed Concrete Sleepers

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This study determines the effectiveness and suitability of acoustic emission in order to monitor the structural health condition of railway pre-stressed concrete sleepers since the acoustic emission sensing provides effective means for detecting cracking

Interaction between the intergalactic medium and central radio source in the NGC 4261 group of galaxies

open access: yes, 2011
Using observations from the Chandra and XMM-Newton X-ray observatories, we examine the interaction between the intra-group medium and central radio source in the nearby NGC 4261 galaxy group.
