Stabilizing the Hexacyanotrimethylenecyclopropane Electron Acceptor—Structural and Photophysical Characterization

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
An improved low‐temperature synthesis enables the first comprehensive structural and spectroscopic characterisation of neutral hexacyanotrimethylenecyclopropane (CN6CP). Combined IR/Raman, UV–Vis and ssNMR analyses reveal a deeper understanding of its oxidation‐state‐dependent charge redistribution, σ‐aromaticity of the cyclopropane core, and redox ...

Overcrowded Alkene Photo‐Redox‐Switches Based on Quinolinium/Carbene Building Blocks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A modular synthesis of a new class of photo‐ and redox‐switches is described based on the combination of quinolinium salts and carbenes. Photochemical switching allows to selectively switch between folded E/Z isomers, while electrochemical switching allows to change between neutral, radical cation and dicationic oxidation states, which are all isolable

Surface Charges Guided Quasi‐TEM‐mode Microwave Propagation along Dielectric Nanowire

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
According to Maxwell's equations, a single‐conductor transmission line cannot allow TEM‐mode electromagnetic wave propagation, however, this is based upon the assumption that dielectric material is isolated from the environment. In practice, surface electrostatic charges widely existed in nano‐materials with large surface‐to‐volume ratio.

Recent Advances in Stimulated Brillouin Scattering in Integrated Photonics

open access: yesAdvanced Physics Research, EarlyView.
This review systematically surveys recent advances in stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) within integrated photonics. It begins by elucidating the fundamental mechanisms of stimulated coupling between photons and acoustic phonons in nanoscale waveguides, enhanced by the photoelastic and moving boundary effects.
