Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Post-Quantum Secure ID-Based (Threshold) Linkable Dual-Ring Signature and Its Application in Blockchain Transactions

open access: yesCryptography
Ring signatures are widely used in e-voting, anonymous whistle-blowing systems, and blockchain transactions. However, due to the anonymity of ring signatures, a signer can sign the same message multiple times, potentially leading to repeated voting or ...

Vibrational signature of broken chemical order in a GeS2 glass: a molecular dynamics simulation

open access: yes, 2003
Using density functional molecular dynamics simulations, we analyze the broken chemical order in a GeS$_2$ glass and its impact on the dynamical properties of the glass through the in-depth study of the vibrational eigenvectors.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Bound States in the Continuum and Fano Resonances in the Dirac Cone Spectrum

open access: yes, 2019
We consider light scattering by two dimensional arrays of high-index dielectric spheres arranged into the triangular lattice. It is demonstrated that in the case a triple degeneracy of resonant leaky modes in the Gamma-point the scattering spectra ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Interaction-enhanced flow of a polariton persistent current in a ring

open access: yes, 2017
We study the quantum hydrodynamical features of exciton-polaritons flowing circularly in a ring-shaped geometry. We consider a resonant-excitation scheme in which the spinor polariton fluid is set into motion in both components by spin-to-orbital angular

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
