Some Geometric Constraints on Ring-Width Trend [PDF]

open access: yesTree-Ring Research, 2005
Simulations of tree rings from trees of undisturbed forest sites are used to describe natural, long-term width trends. Ring-width trends of canopy-sized white oak are simulated from regressions of BAI (ring area) data of real trees. Examples are given of a tree from a typical re-growth forest in Illinois and of a more slowly growing tree from an old ...

Comparison of dendroclimatic relationships using multiple tree-ring indicators (tree-ring width and δ13C) from Masson pine [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2021
This study addressed the effects of climate drivers on the tree-ring width (TRW) parameters (total ring width (TR), earlywood width (EW) and latewood width (LW)) and the total ring δ13C series of different wood components (whole wood, α-cellulose and ...

A transport model for tree ring width. [PDF]

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1997
Process-based tree growth models are recognized to be flexible tools which are valuable for investigating tree growth in relation to changing environment or silvicultural treatments.

Generation of Perfect Vortex Beams with Complete Control over the Ring Radius and Ring Width

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
We have experimentally created perfect vortex beams (PVBs) by Fourier transformation of Bessel–Gaussian vortex beams, which are generated by modulating the fundamental Gaussian beam with the spiral phase plates and the axicons, respectively. Although the

A model for ring width of planted Scots pine

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 1989
Ring width at breast height is presented as a function of stem radius at breast height, the ratio between the diameter of a tree and the basal area median diameter, site index, and density of stand.

OCT and Autofluorescence Phenotypic Features in Autosomal Dominant RHO-Associated Retinitis Pigmentosa Variants [PDF]

open access: yesVision
Background/Objectives: To describe retinal imaging characteristics and the natural history of rhodopsin (RHO)-associated autosomal dominant retinitis pigmentosa (ADRP) by evaluating ellipsoid zone (EZ) width loss and measuring the degree of constriction ...

Interrelation of the Radial Increment of Trees with Various Factors

open access: yesPhysiologia, 2023
Radial increment objectively reflects the quality of the assimilation apparatus of a woody plant. Its features indicate the influence of various anthropogenic, biotic and abiotic factors as well as the stability of the plant under stress. The aim of this

Influence of weather on cork-ring width [PDF]

open access: yesTree Physiology, 2000
Ring-width series of cork from Quercus suber L. trees growing at two sites in Extremadura (southwestern Spain) were analyzed in relation to monthly precipitation and temperature, and to climatic indices combining both variables. Ring width of cork showed strong positive correlations with precipitation, especially during the fall and winter.

Refractive changes of a new asymmetric intracorneal ring segment with variable thickness and base width: A 2D finite-element model.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
PurposeTo evaluate the local geometric effects of a unilateral intrastromal ring segment with a combined variation of ring thickness and base width in a finite element simulation, and to compare it against the isolated effect of thickness or base width ...
