CO2‐to‐CO Conversion in a Gas‐Fed, Zero‐Gap, PEM Electrolyzer Enabled by Polycations and Nitrogen‐Doped Carbon‐Supported Cobalt Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A gas‐fed, zero‐gap, PEM CO2 electrolyzer is realized by incorporating PDDA+ ions onto the carbonaceous Co/N‐C electrocatalyst, with gaseous H2 and CO2 fed into the anode and cathode, respectively. Operating without an aqueous electrolyte, the system sustains a peak FECO of 65.1% at 100 mA cm−2. ABSTRACT Electrochemical carbon dioxide reduction (ECO2R)

Fusing osteology with virtual reality - Three dimensional morphological differences between harp seal (Pagophilus groenlandicus) and ringed seal (Phoca hispida)

open access: yes, 2012
Seal remains, especially the harp seal is a common find from Stone Age settlements in the Baltic basin. The presence and disappearance of harp seal form the Baltic Sea is an interesting and widely discussed topic.

An Integrated Oxygen‐Supplying Device and Predictive Multiphysics Model for Extended Ambient Transport of Insulin‐Producing Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Cell therapies typically rely on cold‐chain logistics and cryopreservation, limiting access and compromising cell quality. Here, a dual‐chamber device separates an oxygen‐supplying chamber from a hyaluronic acid cargo chamber, sustaining oxygen delivery for over 70 h and enabling ambient‐temperature shipment.

Vocalization in the Ringed Seal (Phoca hispida)

open access: yes, 1973
The ringed seal (Phoca hispida), previously thought to be silent, was found to emit vocalizations under water that were not readily audible to man through the ice.

Embedded Direct Ink Writing of Thermoset and Elastomeric Polymers via Frontal Polymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Embedded frontal polymerization direct ink writing (FP‐DIW) combines frontal ring‐opening metathesis polymerization with embedded 3D printing to decouple deposition from curing. A yield‐stress support bath stabilizes low‐viscosity inks, while on‐demand thermal initiation enables controlled front propagation. This approach expands the accessible feature

Characterization of mercury and selenium complex in ringed seal liver

open access: yes, 2001
Ringed seal (Phoca hispida) is a major component and a major source of mercury (Hg) in the Inuit traditional diet. A high correlation between Hg and selenium (Se), as different forms of Hg-Se complex, has been reported in many species of marine mammals ...

Upcycling Keratin‐Based Textile Waste Into High‐Performance Hybrid Fibers Via Tuning the Interfacial Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Keratin recovered from animal‐hair textile waste is fractionated and blended with cellulose to produce continuously spun hybrid fibers. Selecting the high‐molecular‐weight keratin fraction enables 30 wt.% keratin incorporation while maintaining high strength in dry and wet states.

Understanding ringed seal foraging ecology through Inuit knowledge and stomach content analysis

open access: yes, 2021
Ringed seals (Pusa hispida) are opportunistic predators but primarily feed on Arctic cod (Boreogadus saida) and lipid-rich pelagic crustaceans. Recently, shifts in diet have been observed.

Amphoteric Cu‐Doping Leading to High Thermoelectric Performance in p‐Type Bismuth Antimony Telluride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study shows that Cu plays two opposite roles in p‐type Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 depending on the processing route. Under thermodynamic‐equilibrium bulk‐synthesis, Cu mainly occupies cation sites, increases hole concentration, preserves mobility, and slightly reduces lattice heat transport. The best‐performing composition among the investigated series reaches
