Marine Hunting of Pinnipeds (Pinnipedia) on the Coats of the White Sea in the Eneolithic

open access: yesПоволжская археология
This is a study of initial stages of adaptation of the ancient human population to the use of aquatic food supplies in the White Sea. The main aim of archaeozoological analysis was to study the processes of formation of faunal remains and strategies on ...

Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

FIRST INSTRUMENTAL AERIAL SURVEY OF RINGED SEALS (PUSA HISPIDA) AND BEARDED SEALS (ERIGNATHUS BARBATUS) IN THE RUSSIAN ZONE OF THE CHUKCHI AND EAST-SIBERIAN SEAS IN SPRING 2016

open access: yesИзвестия ТИНРО, 2019
An instrumental aerial survey was conducted in the Russian part of the Chukchi Sea and the eastern East-Siberian Sea in the spring of 2016 to investigate new technical capabilities for estimating abundance and distribution of ringed and bearded seals on ...

Rapidly Solidified High‐Strength Invar 36 Prepared by Planar‐Flow Melt Spinning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The Invar 36 alloy was rapidly solidified using the planar‐flow melt‐spinning technique. Ribbon samples with thicknesses ranging from 20 to 160 mm were produced. As the grain size of the ribbon decreased to sub‐micron levels, the hardness increased by more than 2 times.

On the dynamics and selective transport of fatty acids and organochlorines in lactating grey seals (Halichoerus grypus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
This thesis examines fatty acid (FA) and polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) dynamics in a marine top predator, the grey seal (Halichoerus grypus,) and their transfer during lactation from mother to offspring.

Haulout patterns of Saimaa ringed seals and their response to boat traffic during the moulting season

open access: yesEndangered Species Research, 2013
Conservation of the Critically Endangered ringed seal Phoca hispida saimensis population in Lake Saimaa in Finland requires broader knowledge of the behavioural ecology of this subspecies.

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Winter behavior of Saimaa ringed seals: Non-overlapping core areas as indicators of avoidance in breeding females.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
Climate change, together with increasing human activity, poses a threat to the breeding success of endangered landlocked ringed seals (Phoca hispida saimensis).

Cryogenic Deformation Behavior of TiAl and Insights Into Embrittlement After High‐Temperature Exposure Combined With Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy of Near Surface Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Near‐surface deuterium enrichment profiles for different microstructural types of TiAl after exposure at 700 °C in a heavy water‐containing environment. The deuterium levels are significantly higher than expected from natural occurrence, indicating that the heavy water dissociated during the exposure treatment and entered the specimens.
