Animal–Plant Interactions Under Defaunation: Consequences for Amazonian Trees of Commercial Interest
We experimentally investigated the effects of medium‐ and large‐sized mammal defaunation on the removal and fate of seeds from economically important forest species in Amazonian forests. Our results show that mammal exclusion significantly reduced seed removal, although the magnitude of this effect varied among plant species.

ABSTRACT Background Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common cause of vertigo, yet it remains underdiagnosed and undertreated in emergency departments (EDs). Despite evidence‐based guidelines recommending bedside diagnostic maneuvers (Dix‐Hallpike and supine roll test) and canalith repositioning maneuvers (CRMs), these are ...

Membrane Systems with External Control [PDF]
We consider the idea of controlling the evolution of a membrane system. In particular, we investigate a model of membrane systems using promoted rules, where a string of promoters (called the control string) “travels” through the regions, activating ...

To elucidate the integrated transcriptional mechanisms underlying diatom acclimation to coupled carbon–nitrogen (CN) imbalance, we employed RNA sequencing (RNA‐Seq) to characterize the global transcriptional response of the model diatom Phaeodactylum tricornutum to high CO2 (~2000 μatm) and low nitrogen (10% of nitrogen concentration in f/2 medium ...
