Long-term monitoring of pasture dry matter production across fields with different pasture types, as assessed by rising plate meter [PDF]

open access: yes
This dataset contains estimates of pasture biomass as assessed by a Rising Plate Meter. The data originate from fields on the North Wyke Farm Platform, a national capability in South West England. These fields contained either permanent pasture, a Lolium

A mobile system for rearing meat chickens on pasture

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2015
The effect of grazing on the productive performance and meat quality was evaluated for chickens (Ross 308, n = 192). Chickens were kept in two pens on wooden shavings (2 × 96) from one day of age.

Rising plate meter versus energy backcalculation: assessing methods for paddock-scale pasture intake estimation

open access: yesFrontiers in Animal Science
IntroductionAccurate estimation of pasture intake at the paddock scale is essential for profitable pasture-based dairy systems. However, it remains challenging because direct measurement methods, such as the rising plate meter (RPM), are labour-intensive

Designing Polymer Nanocomposites for X‐Ray Shielding: Mechanisms, Architectures, and Scalable Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights advances in lightweight, lead‐free polymer nanocomposites for diagnostic X‐ray shielding. By linking filler chemistry, dispersion, architecture, and photon interaction mechanisms, it establishes structure–performance relationships guiding material design.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Crude Protein as an Indicator of Pasture Availability and Quality: A Validation of Two Complementary Sensors

open access: yesAgronomy
This study evaluated the possibility of using two complementary electronic sensors (rising plate meter (RPM) and active optical sensor (AOS)) to obtain a global indicator, pasture crude protein (CP) in kg ha−1.

DigiChrom: A Domain Ontology for Semantic Representation of Trivalent Chromium Platings and Its Large Language Model‐Based Alignment With Multiple Mid‐Level Ontologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Digitalizing electroplating requires both domain knowledge and interoperability. This work introduces PlatOn, a domain ontology for trivalent chromium plating and coating characterization, and a hybrid pipeline that aligns it to a mid‐level reference ontology by combining eight similarity metrics with language model reasoning. Expert‐validated mappings

Using a Rising Plate Meter to Determine Paddock Size for Rotational Grazing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
For rotational grazing of pastures to be most successful, it’s important to match pasture production to ruminant intake, because both can change during the grazing season. This publication shows how a rising plate meter can be used to calculate available

Strain‐Programmable Luminescent Adhesive Patch With Tartrazine‐Mediated Optical Skin Clearing for Photochemical Tissue Bonding

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We propose a suture‐complementary approach that integrates optical skin clearing with a strain‐programmable luminescent adhesive patch. Hyaluronic acid promotes transdermal delivery of tartrazine to improve optical clearing and stabilizes its interaction with a photosensitizer. Optical clearing increases the penetration depth of visible light into skin,
