本研究は, Shannon の情報エントロピーを用いて定義された冗長性指数 (redundancy index) REを用いてライフラインの冗長性を定量的に評価し, 地震時リスクの解析に用いようとするものである. 本研究では最初に, REと, Ziha が定義した冗長性指数RZとの数学的関係を明らかにしている. 次に, ライフラインモデルの地震時リスク解析を行い, その結果, REはRZに比べ鋭敏性が高く, ライフラインの冗長性をとらえる指数として優れていることがわかった. システムの冗長性を適切なリスク評価の指標として用いることにより, 地震に対するライフラインの事前対策の評価基準として有効性の高いものとなると考える.
