Discharge regimes of Slovenian rivers: 1991–2020
Various researchers have examined discharge regimes of rivers in Slovenia in the past 75 years: four major studies made by Ilešič, Kolbezen, Hrvatin, and lastly Hrvatin and Frantar have analysed and classified the regimes, and clustered them into regime types.

ABSTRACT The ecology of forests, their losses, and terrestrial wood decomposition dynamics have been intensively studied and reviewed. In the aquatic realm, reviews have concentrated on large wood (LW) in rivers and the transition from freshwater to marine environments in the Pacific Northwest of North America. However, a comprehensive global synthesis

Water temperature dynamics in High Arctic river basins
Despite the high sensitivity of polar regions to climate change and the strong influence of temperature upon ecosystem processes, contemporary understanding of water temperature dynamics in Arctic river systems is limited. This research gap was addressed

ABSTRACT Oropharyngeal food processing exhibits a remarkable diversity among vertebrates, reflecting the evolution of specialised ‘processing centres’ associated with the mandibular, hyoid, and branchial arches. Although studies have detailed various food‐processing strategies and mechanisms across vertebrates, a coherent and comprehensive terminology ...

Relevance of ENSO indices as predictors in seasonal river discharge forecasting in the Srepok basin
Flow irregularities seriously affect agricultural production and ecosystems, so early forecasting of river discharge contributes to minimizing its impacts.

Subterranean environments contribute to three‐quarters of classified ecosystem services
ABSTRACT Beneath the Earth's surface lies a network of interconnected caves, voids, and systems of fissures forming in rocks of sedimentary, igneous, or metamorphic origin. Although largely inaccessible to humans, this hidden realm supports and regulates services critical to ecological health and human well‐being.

Rainfall-Runoff Relationships and flow forecasting, Ogun river Nigeria [PDF]
An excess or a lack of rainfall are the major causes of most hydrological hazards, and the need for a systematic approach to river flow forecasting based on rainfall is imperative, especially in Nigeria.

The influence of rivers on seabird foraging ecology
ABSTRACT Rivers act as vital arteries to the world's oceans, delivering fresh water and nutrients that sustain marine ecosystems. Globally, river flow increasingly is being altered by climate change and anthropogenic pressures; yet the significance of rivers to predatory marine species, such as seabirds, and the extent to which river‐related changes ...
