Fronts converging microplastics in the Asia-Pacific river plumes

open access: yesAPN Science Bulletin
Convergent surface fronts are a common feature in river plumes, where they gather suspended materials and biota, playing an important role in the estuarine ecological processes.

Racing Toward 2024: An Accounting Analysis of the Paris Olympics La course vers 2024 : analyse comptable des Jeux olympiques de Paris

open access: yesAccounting Perspectives, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This case challenges students to apply managerial accounting concepts in the context of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a large‐scale event shaped by uncertainty, complexity, and public accountability. Transhumanism Without Transindividuation in the Age Without Epochality: Stiegler, Vice, and Radical Human Enhancement

open access: yesBioethics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT At its core, transhumanism is utopic and apocalyptic: it tells us we will be saved through an imminent radical change of our being wrought by radical human enhancement (RHE) technologies. We are rushing, its supporters claim, towards a technological utopia so long as assorted techno‐phobes do not stand in the way.

Refining the timing of Middle Pleistocene (MIS 12 to MIS 6) ice advances into northern central Europe: sedimentological analysis and single‐grain luminescence dating of glaciotectonic complexes and tunnel‐valley fills

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
We summarize the current state of knowledge on the age of the Middle Pleistocene ice advances into northern central Europe and provide 25 new single‐grain feldspar luminescence ages of Elsterian and Saalian glacigenic sediments to constrain the age of the ice advances and their tentative correlation with marine isotope stages/substages.

Dispersal, source and glass chemistry of a third tephra unit within Iceland's Settlement Layer

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
Tephra layers may be studied to understand the dynamics and sequence of past explosive volcanism. In Iceland, the distinctive Settlement Layer (AD ~877) underlies almost all archaeological evidence for the Norse Settlement and is preserved in soils across Iceland and as cryptotephra overseas.

Depositional processes of varved sediments from proglacial Lago Frías since 1800 CE (North Patagonian Andes, Argentina)

open access: yesBoreas, EarlyView.
The glacierized Valle Frías in Northern Patagonia is one of the best‐studied valleys in South America and includes varved sediments from Lago Frías. We complement this lacustrine record with a high‐resolution documentation of varve counts and their composition.

The collective application of shorebird tracking data to conservation

open access: yesConservation Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract Addressing urgent conservation issues, such as the drastic declines of North American migratory birds, requires creative, evidence‐based, efficient, and collaborative approaches. The abundance of over 50% of monitored North American shorebird populations has declined by over 50% since 1980. To address these declines, we developed a partnership
