PALEOHYDROLOGY OF RIVERS IN THE DON RIVER BASIN

From Ambition to Action: Barriers and Enablers for the Inclusion of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities in the Kunming–Montreal Biodiversity Framework and the Role of Non‐State Bridge Organizations

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Graphical abstract illustrating the transition from global biodiversity ambition to on‐the‐ground implementation of the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework after COP16, highlighting the roles of governments, non‐state actors, scientific knowledge systems, and resource mobilization in achieving transformative biodiversity outcomes.

Thermochemical Micro‐Explosion for Prompt Thrombolysis via Proximal Injection of Liquid Alkali Metal

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We report a micro‐explosive thermochemical thrombolysis (METCT) therapy via injectable liquid alkali metal encapsulated in dimethyl silicone (LAM@oil). METCT enables prompt and safe vascular recanalization within 90 s. Critically, the LAM@oil system demonstrates significantly higher thrombolytic efficacy compared to clinically available thrombolytic ...

Remote Magnetomechanical Neuromodulation Uncovers Therapeutic Mechanisms for Alleviating Parkinsonian Symptoms in Freely Moving Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Magnetomechanical neuromodulation using magnetic nanodiscs enables remote activation of neurons. In a hemiparkinsonian mouse model, alternating magnetic fields actuate the nanodiscs to generate torque that opens mechanosensitive ion channels within the subthalamic nucleus, thereby modulating basal ganglia motor circuitry.

Palatable‐Food–Driven Top‐Down Circuit Inhibits PVNCRF Activity to Mitigate Stress Via Peri‐PVNCRFR1 Neurons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Palatable food alleviates stress and prevents anxiety. This study uncovers a dedicated neural pathway: dopamine release in the PFC activates D1R neurons, whose projections to the peri‐PVN engage a population of anxiolytic CRFR1 neurons. These neurons then inhibit stress‐induced hyperactivity of PVNCRF neurons, providing a circuit‐level explanation for ...

Service-Learning: Boldly Going Where EAL Students Have Not Gone Before

open access: yesBC TEAL Journal, 2017
Service-learning is an experiential pedagogy which integrates curriculum and volunteer service through ongoing reflection. Research suggests that service-learning offers notable benefits for post-secondary English-as-an-additional-language (EAL) students.

Mastication‐Induced Electrical Stimulation Activates Prg4+ Chondroprogenitors for Osteoarthritis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents a ″trash‐to‐treasure″ strategy that converts harmful joint overloads into beneficial electrical cues. The biodegradable MagPie, by providing piezoelectrical stimulation and releasing Mg2+ during mastication, exerts synergistic pro‐regenerative and anti‐inflammatory effects on Prg4+ cells via the ECM‐mediated FAK‐PI3K‐Akt axis ...

Performing Critique

open access: yesOn_Culture, 2019
Against the backdrop of a growing concern for the fate of critique in the current era, queer video games such as tranxiety, Dream Daddy and Gone Home have begun to engage players in the process of critically examining their own assumptions and immersing
