A series of cerium-doped compounds with the composition Ba1-xLaxCl2+x and 0 < x < 0.5 have been prepared in ceramic form. We find from the powder X-ray diffraction patterns that the compounds adopt the cubic fluorite structure for 0.05 < x 0.34. Samples with x~ 0.2 are translucent.

Fe/NixZn1-xFe2O4 ( x=0.1, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9) soft magnetic composites were prepared by the chemical co-precipitation method. The effect of Ni content on the magnetic properties was discussed. The results of SEM, EDS and X-ray diffraction analysis indicate that an uniform and dense Ni-Zn ferrite was coated on the surface of bared Fe.

Biaxially textured SmxZr1-xOy (SZO) thin films have been grown directly on an ion beam assisted deposited (IBAD) MgO template, without using an intermediate homoepitaxial MgO layer. SZO buffer layers were deposited using reactive magnetron sputtering of a Sm (50 at.%)-Zr (50 at.%) alloy target.

We have studied the response of intrinsic Josephson junctions (IJJs) in cross-shaped samples of (Bi1-xPbx)2Sr2CaCu2Oy (x=0.15) with high critical currents Ic at 4.2 K to injection of microwave with frequencies frf of 2-20 GHz. At the early stage of measurements Josephson vortex flow is induced in the IJJs by supplying high currents to them. After that,

Perovskite-based BaZryTi1-yO3 (BZTO) (y=0.6) with partial crystallization has been found to possess a rather high- κ value of 48.6 and positive quadratic voltage coefficient of capacitance (VCC). Through stacking BZTO and ZrTiOx as laminate dielectric, metal-insulator-metal capacitors using VCC canceling effect advance frontiers by exhibiting a record ...

The performance of Bi2Sr2CaCu2Ox (Bi2212) wires is very sensitive to the heat treatment conditions, and in particular to the conditions immediately after partial-melting. In this paper, the effect of solidification conditions on Bi2212/Ag/AgMg coil performance is investigated using a split melt process.

We summarize the latest R&D state-of-art of Ce3+ and Pr3+-doped mixed (LuxY1-x)3Al5O12 (LuYAG) garnet scintillator crystals and compare their properties with those of Lu3Al5O12 (LuAG) and Y3Al5O12 (YAG) single crystal analogues. Light yield, energy resolution and proportionality were studied under radioisotope excitation within 8-1300 keV energy range.

We present here a magnetic and 57Fe Mossbauer spectral study of the Lu(Al1-xFex)2 compounds (x=0.50, 0.75, and 1). At relatively high temperatures (TH ~ 300 K for x=0.75 , and TH ~ 70 K for x=0.50) a peak is observed in both zero field cooled magnetization, M(T), and low field ac susceptibility versus temperature, chiac(T), curves.

An explanation is given for the nearly linear relationship between the deuteron radius and the triplet scattering length as predicted by potential models of the {ital NN} interaction. This is accomplished by showing that the quantity {l angle}{ital r}{sup 2}{r angle}/{ital a}{sub {ital t}}{sup 2} can be expanded to high accuracy in terms of the small ...

This work presents the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) and critical behaviors of bulk Ni0.5Mn0.5-xSnx alloys (x=0.14 and 0.15) prepared by an arc-melting method. Under an external field of 50 kOe, we have observed the coexistence of the inverse MCE with a maximum magnetic entropy change (ΔSmax) of 1.39 J·kg-1·K-1 at 218 K (associated with the martensitic ...
