Logic‐Gated HSV‐TK/GCV Suicide Gene Circuit for Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The BRAS comprises two modular genetic components driven by distinct tumor‐specific promoters and a failsafe layer with the NOT gate. This multi‐input logic gate circuit enables precise, specific expression of HSV‐TK in breast cancer cells with hardly expression in normal cell and effectively inhibits tumor growth in a triple‐negative breast cancer ...

Regulation of Neisseria meningitidis cytochrome bc1 components by NrrF, a Fur‐controlled small noncoding RNA

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, 2017
NrrF is a small regulatory RNA of the human pathogen Neisseria meningitidis. NrrF was previously shown to repress succinate dehydrogenase (sdhCDAB) under control of the ferric uptake regulator (Fur). Here, we provide evidence that cytochrome bc1, encoded

Experimental characterization of Cis-acting elements important for translation and transcription in Halophilic Archaea [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Summary The basal transcription apparatus of archaea is well characterized. However, much less is known about the mechanisms of transcription termination and translation initation.

NPM1 Mediates mRNA Sorting into Extracellular Vesicles via Specific RNA Motif Binding and Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NPM1 selectively sorts specific mRNAs into extracellular vesicles (EVs) by recognizing RNA motifs and forming phase‐separated condensates. These mRNA cargos—including EGFR—are then loaded via multivesicular bodies. This active sorting pathway, validated in EVs derived from both lung cancer cells and patient serum, reveals a specific mechanism for ...

Nucleotide bias of DCL and AGO in plant anti-virus gene silencing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Plant Dicer-like (DCL) and Argonaute (AGO) are the key enzymes involved in anti-virus post-transcriptional gene silencing (AV-PTGS). Here we show that AV-PTGS exhibited nucleotide preference by calculating a relative AV-PTGS efficiency on processing ...

Atrophic Skeletal Muscle‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles Transfer miR‐125a‐5p to Inhibit Bone Formation in Osteoporosis during Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A muscle‐bone endocrine pathway in aging is revealed in which extracellular vesicles released from atrophic skeletal muscle (Aged‐SKM‐EVs) inhibit bone formation. These EVs deliver miR‐125a‐5p to osteoblasts, thereby suppressing the SIRT7‐Sp7 signaling axis and osteogenic differentiation.

Targeting microRNA-122 to Treat Hepatitis C Virus Infection

open access: yesViruses, 2010
An important host factor for hepatitis C virus (HCV) is microRNA-122 (miR-122). miR-122 is a liver-specific member of a family of small, non-coding RNA molecules known as microRNAs that play major roles in the regulation of gene expression by direct ...

Evidence for RNA recombination between distinct isolates of Pepino mosaic virus. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Genetic recombination plays an important role in the evolution of virus genomes. In this study we analyzed publicly available genomic sequences of Pepino mosaic virus (PepMV) for recombination events using several bioinformatics tools.

An overview of the role of context-sensitive HMMs in the prediction of ncRNA genes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Non-coding RNAs (ncRNA) are RNA molecules that function in the cells without being translated into proteins. In recent years, much evidence has been found that ncRNAs play a crucial role in various biological processes.

An Artificial Antibody‐Based Toolbox Accelerates Validation of Hidden Microproteins Encoded by the Dark Genome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Microproteins are hidden treasures encoded by the “dark proteome” but remain largely underexplored due to the lack of highly efficient tools. We developed a molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs)‐based toolbox (CLAIMID) to achieve accelerated and ultrasensitive microproteins validation at multiple biological scales (single living cells, cell populations,
