SummaryWhereas about 70 small non‐coding RNAs have been found in the Escherichia coli genome, relatively little is known about regulatory RNAs from Gram‐positive bacteria. Here, we demonstrate that the recently identified small untranslated RNA SR1 from the Bacillus subtilis genome is a regulatory RNA involved in fine‐tuning of arginine catabolism.

The Escherichia coli gcvB gene encodes a small RNA transcript that is not translated in vivo. Transcription from the gcvB promoter is activated by the GcvA protein and repressed by the GcvR protein, the transcriptional regulators of the gcvTHP operon encoding the enzymes of the glycine cleavage system.

Long-term BRCA1 down-regulation by small hairpin RNAs targeting the 3' untranslated region.
Neoplasma, 2008Mutations in the BRCA1 gene are responsible for the majority of hereditary breast/ovarian cancers. The functional significance of many mutations/splicing variants identified during the screening of high-risk individuals is difficult to predict due to the lack of in vitro functional tests correlating sequence variants with a risk of cancer development ...

Co-expression analysis of small RNAs and untranslated regions in Rhodospirillum rubrum
Bacterial small RNAs (sRNAs) are regulatory elements often mentioned in the context of stress response. So are polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), a possible replacement for conventional plastics, are frequently produced by bacteria facing stress conditions.Heřmánková, Kristýna +1 more
