A novel sorting signal for RNA packaging into small extracellular vesicles

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) play a critical role in the transport of functional RNAs to target recipient cells in numerous physiological processes. The RNA profiles present in EVs differed significantly from those in the originating cells, suggesting ...

Tendon Organoids Enable Functional Tendon Rejuvenation Through ALKBH5‐Dependent RNA Demethylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
FT organoids reverse the aged phenotype of tendon cells, reinstating a fetal‐like state. This breakthrough establishes a potent cell source for tendon tissue engineering, effectively advancing regenerative medicine. ABSTRACT Adult tendon injuries pose a major clinical challenge due to limited self‐repair capacity, resulting in suboptimal regeneration ...

Maf1 and Repression of RNA Polymerase III-Mediated Transcription Drive Adipocyte Differentiation

open access: yesCell Reports, 2018
Summary: RNA polymerase (pol) III transcribes a variety of small untranslated RNAs involved in transcription, RNA processing, and translation. RNA pol III and its components are altered in various human developmental disorders, yet their roles in cell ...

A novel high throughput biochemical assay to evaluate the HuR protein-RNA complex formation. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The RNA binding protein HuR/ELAVL1 binds to AU-rich elements (AREs) promoting the stabilization and translation of a number of mRNAs into the cytoplasm, dictating their fate.

Detecting microRNA binding and siRNA off-target effects from expression data. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Sylamer is a method for detecting microRNA target and small interfering RNA off-target signals in 3' untranslated regions from a ranked gene list, sorted from upregulated to downregulated, after a microRNA perturbation or RNA interference experiment. The

Investigation of the global translational response to oxidative stress in the model archaeon Haloferax volcanii reveals untranslated small RNAs with ribosome occupancy

open access: yesmSphere
Abstract Oxidative stress induces a wide range of cellular damage, often causing disease and cell death. While many organisms are susceptible to the effects of oxidative stress, haloarchaea have adapted to be highly resistant. Several aspects of the haloarchaeal oxidative stress response have been characterized, however little is known ...

Endocytic Control of Cell‐Autonomous and Non‐Cell‐Autonomous Functions of p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NUMB Ex3‐containing isoforms localize to the plasma membrane, where they recruit p53 through SNX9 and direct it to multivesicular bodies and exosomes. Exported p53 is taken up by neighboring cells and activates nuclear programs, revealing an intercellular, exosome‐based pathway that might help establish a tumor‐suppressive microenvironment.

Introduction and Expression of a Rabbit β-globin Gene in Mouse Fibroblasts [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
The cloned chromosomal rabbit ß-globin gene has been introduced into mouse fibroblasts by DNA-mediated gene transfer (transformation). In this report, we examine the expression of the rabbit gene in six independent transformants that contain from 1 to 20
