Humid‐Air Condensation Heat Transfer on Hierarchical Structured Superhydrophobic Graphite Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Humid‐air condensation on graphite composites shows that making a surface superhydrophobic is not sufficient to enhance heat transfer. A hierarchical CuO/lauric‐acid coating yields spherical droplets but promotes Wenzel‐type pinning and adds effective thermal resistance under operation.

Smartphone-Based Pedestrian’s Avoidance Behavior Recognition towards Opportunistic Road Anomaly Detection

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2016
Road anomalies, such as cracks, pits and puddles, have generally been identified by citizen reports made by e-mail or telephone; however, it is difficult for administrative entities to locate the anomaly for repair.

Detecting Anomaly in Traffic Flow from Road Similarity Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Taxies equipped with GPS devices are considered as 24-hour moving sensors widely distributed in urban road networks. Plenty of accurate and realtime trajectories of taxi are recorded by GPS devices and are commonly studied for understanding traffic dynamics. This paper focuses on anomaly detection in traffic volume, especially the non-recurrent traffic

From Copper Nanoparticles to Alumina Encapsulated Porous Layers With Enhanced Mechanical Stability

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study analyzes the synthesis‐structure relation of individual Cu nanoparticles and highly porous nanoparticle‐based Cu films using different sputtering‐based nanoparticle sources. The inherent mechanical instability of the films is tackled with Al2O3 encapsulation through atomic layer deposition, enabling 4‐fold increase in critical force in ...
