ROAD TRAFFIC NOISE INFLUENCED BY ROAD BUMPS
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 2002Noise levels from different kinds of vehicles were measured on streets close to road bumps. In comparison with free flowing traffic, the acceleration after road bumps increased peak noise levels from 1 to 13 dB (A) max. Although the results are of a pilot nature, it is suggested that noise consequences should be included in the planning of road bumps.

Bumps in the road lead to immunogenicity
Nature Reviews Cancer, 2021Bartok, Pataskar, Nagel et al. show that long-term interferon γ-induced tryptophan degradation interferes with mRNA translation in melanoma. They reveal a mechanism by which indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase 1 and amino acid starvation-dependent ribosomal frameshifting leads to immunogenic aberrant peptide presentation.

In this chapter I describe the spring and the summer of 2013 when Portugal went from issuing again a new long-term bond and extending the maturities of its European official loans to a political crisis that threatened to jeopardize our work and bring the sovereign back to the situation of 2012.

The history of artificial road bumps
OOO "Zhurnal "Voprosy Istorii", 2023Currently, artificial road irregularities have become widespread as elements of forced restriction of the speed of traffic flow on the road network in order to improve road safety. The are installed mainly near pedestrian crossings, in places where a large number of people are attracted: schools, kindergartens, hospitals, shops, markets, shopping ...

Speed (Road) Bumps: Issues and Opinions
Journal of Transportation Engineering, 1985Speed (road) bumps are controversial. Despite their effectiveness as a speed deterrent device, the use has not been widespread in the United States. A majority of traffic professionals are strongly opposed to the use of these bumps on public right-of-way. Liability and safety remain the primary concerns.

A bump in the road: speed bumps’ impact on property values
International Journal of Housing Markets and Analysis, 2019PurposeSpeed bumps invite varied responses from homeowners, drivers and policymakers. Parents of small children like speed bumps, if they slow the passing traffic, but prospective home buyers may reject a home with a speed bump nearby, contemplating the traversal of it thousand times during an ownership period.

Jumps and bumps on random roads
Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1981When a car travels on a randomly profiled road at a moderate speed the wheels follow the road, but with increasing speed it can happen that a wheel leaves the ground for a short while—it jumps and bumps. A switching stochastic differential equation is presented for simulation and probabilistic analysis of the movements of the car, in particular after a
