Road traffic density estimation in vehicular networks

2013 IEEE Wireless Communications and Networking Conference (WCNC), 2013
Road traffic density estimation provides important information for road planning, intelligent road routing, road traffic control, vehicular network traffic scheduling, routing and dissemination. The ever increasing number of vehicles equipped with wireless communication capabilities provide new means to estimate the road traffic density more accurately

Road-network agglomeration, road density, and protected-area fragmentation

Letters in Spatial and Resource Sciences, 2012
This paper develops a new measure of the spatial pattern of roads in an area, named the Road Network Agglomeration Index (RNAI), and explores the impact of this dimension of road networks on spatial patterns of conservation networks. RNAI is more spatially descriptive than road density measures used commonly in analyses of conservation patterns, and ...

Density Based Clustering Methods for Road Traffic Estimation

2020 IEEE REGION 10 CONFERENCE (TENCON), 2020
Multiple object detection using deep neural networks can lead to transportation vehicles estimate, a necessary requirement for prediction and management of road traffic and parking lot. Highly overlapped objects that look similar and objects that are there at far distances have lesser probability of detection by state-of-art techniques.

Power Spectral Density of Road Profiles

Vehicle System Dynamics, 2001
The road profile is usually considered to be a random process x (d), where x is the road height and d is the distance along the road. As the vehicle travels along the road with velocity v, the random process x (d) is converted to a random process x (t) which is input to the vehicle suspension via the tyre.

Effects of road density on regional food webs

Conservation Biology
Abstract Roads stand as major threats to biodiversity because they affect the functioning of ecosystems and the provision of ecosystem services. Understanding how the effects of roads affect the dynamics of ecological interactions is essential to managing human impacts on biodiversity, but such studies are few. We investigated species

Accurate speed and density measurement for road traffic in India

Proceedings of the 3rd ACM Symposium on Computing for Development, 2013
Monitoring traffic density and speed helps to better manage traffic flows and plan transportation infrastructure and policy. In this paper, we present techniques to measure traffic density and speed in unlaned traffic, prevalent in developing countries, and apply those techniques to better understand traffic patterns in Bengaluru, India. Our techniques,

The Effect of Population Density on Infrastructure: The Case of Road Building

Economic Development and Cultural Change, 1975
A cross-sectional analysis of 113 countries in 1968 indicates that population density has a significant and strong effect on total road density. An elasticity of 0.73 of road density with respect to population density was obtained. Time-series analysis confirmed this finding. An elasticity higher than unity was obtained for paved road construction.

Effects of stocking density on lambs being transported by road

Veterinary Record, 1998
Lambs were transported for 24 hours during summer and winter at a range of stocking densities. Shorn lambs of mean liveweight 39.5 kg were transported at densities of 0.448, 0.513, 0.602 and 0.769 m 2 /100 kg in July and fully‐fleeced lambs of 37.3 kg mean liveweight were transported at ...

Histogram-based density discovery in establishing road connectivity

2009 IEEE Vehicular Networking Conference (VNC), 2009
The paper proposes the histogram-based density discovery scheme as an alternative complement in obtaining density to LOUVRE, a landmark-based routing in the vehicular urban environment. The histogram-based scheme does not have the scalability problem as the P2P density scheme.

Proposal of Lighting Power Density for Road Lighting

Journal of the Korean Institute of Illuminating and Electrical Installation Engineers, 2011
The design of road lighting is aiming illuminance and luminance requirements for road lighting. In the process, various factors associated with luminaires such as luminous efficacy, light distribution, mounting height, spacing and maintenance factor are considered. However, there has been no restriction on lighting power density.
