Deep Learning Approaches Applied to Remote Sensing Datasets for Road Extraction: A State-Of-The-Art Review

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
One of the most challenging research subjects in remote sensing is feature extraction, such as road features, from remote sensing images. Such an extraction influences multiple scenes, including map updating, traffic management, emergency tasks, road ...

Genetic diversity and population structure of the Taigan dog breed

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The Taigan is a rare sighthound from the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. We used DNA markers to study its genetic diversity and compare it with other sighthound breeds. Our findings show that the Taigan shares close genetic ties with the Kazakh Tazy, suggesting a common ancestry shaped by nomadic traditions and regional adaptation.

A Phase Coded Disk Approach To Thick Curvilinear Line Detection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This paper examines the well-known problem of line detection, but where the lines are wider than one pixel. The motivation behind the paper is the extraction of road information from high resolution photogrammetry and Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR ...

Interaction of class III cellobiose dehydrogenase with lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The activity of lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) is supported by its auxiliary enzyme cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH). The catalytic activity of both enzymes is coupled by electron transfer and a cyclic cascade generating substrates for both enzymes – hydrogen peroxide for LPMO and oxidized and non‐oxidized cellobiose and cello‐oligosaccharide ...

The Road Not Taken: Misclassifying an Anti‐Seizure Medication as a Failure

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To quantify how often anti‐seizure medications (ASMs) appear ineffective yet provide benefit when considering seizure frequency (SF) variability. Methods We used the CHOCOLATES seizure diary simulator to generate 100,000 patient seizure diaries that reflect natural SF variation in a heterogeneous population.

Road edge and lane boundary detection using laser and vision [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
This paper presents a methodology for extracting road edge and lane information for smart and intelligent navigation of vehicles. The range information provided by a fast laser range-measuring device is processed by an extended Kalman filter to extract ...

Road Region Extraction with Longitudinal Slope

open access: yesTRANSACTIONS OF THE JAPAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERS Series C, 2011
Extraction of road region is a core technology for an autonomous vehicle which achieves safer transport. We propose extraction and modeling method for the road region in front of vehicle, using three-dimensional shape that is analyzed by stereovision.

Retrotransposon Expression Is Upregulated in Adulthood and Suppressed during Regeneration of the Limb in the Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The axolotl's remarkable regenerative abilities decline with age, the causes may include the numerous repetitive elements within its genome. This study uncovers how Ty3 retrotransposons and coexpression networks involving muscle and immune pathways respond to aging and regeneration, suggesting that transposons respond to physiological shifts and may ...

Extraction of Road Intersections from GPS Traces Based on the Dominant Orientations of Roads [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2017
Many studies have used Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) traces to successfully extract segments of road networks because such data can be rapidly updated at a low cost. However, most studies have not focused on extracting intersections, which are indispensable parts of road networks in terms of connectivity.
