Optimization based classifiers for road extraction
SMC'98 Conference Proceedings. 1998 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (Cat. No.98CH36218), 2002We investigate the performance of a linear programming-based decision tree in creating gray scale images for road extraction from AVIRIS images. We apply our method for classification of pixels from a digital image of an area near Williamsburg, Virginia, using the distance from discriminant lines as a measure to create a gray scale image.

Road Extracting Based on Texture Analysis
16th International Conference on Artificial Reality and Telexistence--Workshops (ICAT'06), 2006In this paper, an automatic method for road network extraction from high resolution aerial image is presented, the recommended input is merely the color image. The modified technique, TPA, and a new way of initial road point extraction are applied. The whole method consists of three modules: 1) the first road detection; 2) statistics and fusing; 3) the

Road extraction for EuroSDR contest
SPIE Proceedings, 2006This paper presents the participation of the SIC to the EuroSDR contest (European Spatial Data Research; formerly known as OEEPE) about road extraction. After presenting the framework of the EuroSDR contest, our approach for road extraction is described.

Remote Sensing Road Extraction by Refining Road Topology
2020Remote sensing road extraction is one of the research hotspots in high-resolution remote sensing images. However, many road extraction methods cannot hold the edge interference, including shadows of sheltered trees and vehicles. In this paper, a novel remote sensing road extraction (RSRE) method based on deep learning is proposed, which considers the ...

Road Information Extraction from High-Resolution Remote Sensing Images Based on Road Reconstruction
Traditional road extraction algorithms, which focus on improving the accuracy of road surfaces, cannot overcome the interference of shelter caused by vegetation, buildings, and shadows.

Road and Road Intersection Extraction
2013Beginning in 1879 the United States Geological Survey (USGS) began surveying land in the United States. Since then they have developed over 55, 000 1: 24, 000-scale topographic maps covering the 48 coterminous states in a standard, detailed manner. The result is a wealth of data contained in physical documents.

Road extraction from SAR images by using a graphical sketch of road
SPIE Proceedings, 2003The subject of this communication is the detection of roads on SAR images starting from a user-drawn graphical sketch. This sketch is considered as a road model, and the main contribution of this communication is to incorporate this model in a yet-existing blind road detection method to improve the quality and reliability of the detection.

Road extraction using smart phones GPS
Proceedings of the 2nd International Conference on Computing for Geospatial Research & Applications - COM.Geo '11, 2011GPS data crowd-sourced through smart phones is an emerging source of inexpensive data that can be used to provide real-time traffic information, identify traffic patterns, and predict traffic congestions. The same type of data can be very useful for cost-effective, fast updating of road network databases due to its rich spatial and temporal coverage ...

LiDAR Intensity Calibration for Road Marking Extraction
2018 15th International Conference on Ubiquitous Robots (UR), 2018The rising demand for precise three-dimensional (3D) maps is a result of the growth of autonomous vehicles into a major focus. These precise 3D maps are often created using Mobile Mapping System (MMS) instruments equipped with various sensors. Among these sensors, Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) is the most widely adopted sensor for the generation ...

Interactive Road Extraction with Pixel Force Fields
18th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR'06), 2006Pixel force field (PFF) is a novel image representation where at each pixel a two-dimensional vector is defined for representing interaction of pixels. The vector is oriented to the center of the region composed of pixels having the same qualitative property, such as color and gray-scale level.
